I'm going back through this thread, replacing images as I can. Either originals or close to those originally posted.

We've also lost Mick Bonwick who provided much encouragement to me in many ways, not least, my weathering.

Here's an Oxford Diecast Land Rover I weathered for Mick which, together with a number of others weathered and adapted by other friends of Mick were sent to him as a thank you.

I've also experimented with adding "new " planks and planks of differing hues to 8 plank and five plank wagons.

This is a Bachmann 8 planker.

The new layout saw new approaches taken to weathering buildings with more use of colour.

Here's the coal office at Ewe.

Much work was also done to the Peco code 75, learning from similar work carried put on Sheep Dip.

Three views of the layout which show the entire scenic section.

Hopefully, this demonstrates the end result of carefully painting, weathering and ballasting of the track before adding the grass, weeds etc.....

And also "reverse weathered" a DJM/Hattons 14xx, removing as much of the factory weatgering as I could using a glass fibre brush.

So, that's sort of brought things up to date.

I'll leave with an image of Sheep Dip which I hope shows how each part of a layout, if carefully weathered, using a limited palette for all of the components can be brought together.

All excellent stuff Rob, but can I make an observation?

You have coloured the outer check rails on the points, but not the wing rails next to the frog.

This might be due to track cleaning activities,  of course.

Hi Stu,

Good point. I have a bit of a cavalier approach to track cleaning.

However, if I were to add weathering to the rails you mention, I take it that it would be to the areas splodged in red ?

20230212_094457.jpg.810e9237cd73385e14d0d9eeeea5209b.jpg

I would just have to be a bit more restrained when cleaning the track.

Exactly those bits, apologies for making life harder...

Don't. I'll just have to adapt my "scorched earth" track cleaning procedure.
