A close up of the old Airfix five plank wagon previously featured. This illustrates the texture and colour possible with powders.

Being hyper-critical.....

The retaining pin would show some bright metal where it's been repeated pushed through the bracket, which itself would show scuff marks.

The end of the door bangers would also show scuff marks from the door and the door's metal bar would have paint scratches from the same contact point.

Agreed Stubbers.

A couple of strokes with a soft pencil should do the job.

I say, old bean, how about making the most interesting contents of your spares box available as a Small Business? That crane looks the Business, if you'll pardon the unintentional but noticed-as-I-was-typing-in pun.

That's very kind of ewe to say so. It is quietly coming together.

More painting required, a suitable hook and a decision made regarding chain or hawser for it to dangle from.

It's a bit of a miss-match.

The jib is from a Wills kit, the gears etc is from an old Cambrian GWR hand crane. All tweaked/ chopped/filed. Bits of wire and copper tube etc added and a dollop of paint or two.

The Base is that cut off Mutton 's  ground frame and a bit of strip wood for the deck.

I normally go over parts like that with a soft pencil it shines it without it looking like a blob of silver.

Bringing this thread up to date.

Another view or two of an Adams Radial, as running on Mutton.

The usual weathering powders applied thereon.
