Hi Russ.

It's coming on a treat mate.

I wish I had that amount of space.

Regards Lez.Z.

Thanks Lez

there is still a long way to go, the space is great but sadly I could afford to do it because I was seriously Ill and didn't spend much for 18 mth and even now after almost three years I can't eat so my food bill is zero.

Not a great place to be but at least I'm here so I'm spending a lot of time in there at the moment

I know what you mean mate.

Mine's been stalled for a couple of years due to renovating the flat. Right in the middle of that I had my second heart attack. I had a sander in my hand as it started. That slowed things down and it took over a year for me to be able to get the place finished. The layout room and layout had been used for storage and it still has about 6-8 boxes on it waiting to be sorted out and I still have to sort out the storage down stairs before I can clear out the junk from my railway room and of course I'm just plane worn out from all that. However the double slot shelving system has now arrived and hopefully we can get all the storage sorted out by the end of the month and I can clear out the railway room and asses the damage to the track. I know there is some but I don't quite know the true extent. Still there is now light at the end of the tunnel and it's not just from the tunnel being on fire.

Regards Lez.Z.

Got the track 99% finished and wired including 45 of the points these are the ones that would be operated from a signalbox in real life

The next job is a non working swing bridge at the right-hand end of the centre board there will be a roadside tramway down to the port area too

The third board is half open countryside and half non scenic storage sidings

A bit more progress the platforms of vley have been done and a start on some of the buildings in what will be station square

I've used some old arkitex to make the area managers offices and I'm currently working on a supermarket with office above using the same

Neat work there Russ, you're making rapid progress with this. The office block looks nice, captures the 20s/ 30s Art Deco look with the Crittal windows nicely.

Cheers

I was trying to get a 50s look typical of a lot of British railways offices built at that time but now you say does look a bit art decoder

Could be the half knightwing fuel point as a porch

We've a couple of commercial office buildings near to us which were 1930s built and match the brick/ concrete construction exactly. The style continued in vogue after the war until concrete started to play a more prominent role in the 60s, so its equally plausible for a 1950s build.

The next building which is a supermarket with floors above will be slightly more brutal with more concrete.

I've used a a rustolium textured paint which seems to give good results when modeling cast concrete

I immediately thought of Boulton and Pauls office in Norwich when I saw it. I'd say its 1950's alright!

I can't remember the street name, but head out of Norwich Thorpe station and head up the hill into town. Its on the right hand side about half way up. I fitted a telephone system in there in about 2001, B&P had moved out a couple of months earlier..

Prince of Wales road, I've not noticed it.

To be honest although I go to Norwich most days for work I very rarely go into the city

I might have a walk up there if I get chance to have a look at this building

I'm hoping that my memory isn't playing tricks on me, the photo above doesn't clear it up any either!

Just don't blame me if its completely different!

Currently messing about with triang arkitex, whilst it's a shame to destroy an old 60s construction toy they do make good representations of 50s and 60s buildings

I say destroy because I've glued it together and painted it

This is going to be a supermarket probably fine fare but have to do artwork on pc yet

It's sprayed in rustoleum desert bisque textured paint which looks like cast concrete

Done a bit more tonight but ran out of arkitex sections now

Fine fare needs a bit of an interior but will wait until I've got the board up for mounting them on

I've made a start on what will be Woolworths tonight.

Apologies to the good residents of the real Vley which in reality is a lovely scenic village on the north Norfolk last... but if the harbour hadn't silted up it could have become another Yarmouth

In glad it silted up.

Hoodies, Chippies, tatty shops and a general air of depression?

It hasn't got that far yet,its 67/68 and Cley is a semi- industrial holiday resort.

There will be bits of Norfolk railways on it , the station has a hint of Norwich but there are carriage sidings on the approach to it like Yarmouth and there will be a swing bridge based on the old Trowse one but with a box similar to Reedham

The new layout is based on the old layout at the start of this thread but four times the size

That's definitely a 50s building,

I think with all those modern buildings near the station there must have been a lot of bomb damage, surprised the station survived
