RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted February 16, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2021 Brilliant , I have now found the one point of playing golf ( I`dont!) The use of a tee is inspired, I will have to chat up one of the blokes at work to get a handful. It is one thing that has put me off starting on my 70 class is the curves on the front end - it looks like you have added upwards of 6mm - which will sand well for the curve so obvious in pictures - but does that make the etch deliberately short or does the plasticard make over long . Not a downside of your work but just asking - for myself and not a friend !! Multi vehicle builds takes determination and delaying painting until all built is self control .. but I do look forward to the finished job. While I ordered and was supplied by Allen recently it was ex stock 3mm stuff so sorry not adding to filling the sheet. Robert

pat141
Allen was telling me the etchers are down to 2 men and it can take over a month to do the etch. So a bit of a wait.

How much you add Robert is up to you, I probably could have done with less. I used a strip of Evergreen Half Round strip on the joint between the side and front to represent that curved area on the Class 70. 1 1

kirley
NIR Class 70 six car set Power Car 2 Spent a good few hours to get the Headlight to work, I ended up running wires direct from the 8 pin plug on the PCB. Fitted in the new sound decoder. Added some under 'bits' and tested the decoder. 3 3

jhb171achil
Absolutely inspiring, as always. Question - the power bogie seems a bit far back, or I am I talking nonsense (as often!)?

No Johnathan, you are absolutely right, it’s the consequences of adapting a RTR chassis, I had to build the driving cab past the original length of the chassis.

Still REALLY looks the part! Excellent model. I've enjoyed watching its progress.

kirley
NIR Class 70 6 Car Set Used DCC Concepts Pickups to provide power to light the headlight. Installed mini plug. There is 'light', you have to ensure you wire it so it only lights when the Car is going forward. Roof fans and grills from Shawplan added. 3

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 6, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2021 Looking good Kirley. One thing though. The cab end looks to be recessed into the coach body, i.e. the coach sides stick out beyond the cab front. Are you going to round off the corners flush with the cab surface? Cheers Darius

Cheers Darius I was trying, not very successfully, to replicate the rounded fronts on the Power Cars and Driving Trailers.
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 7, 2021 Hi Kirley, I reckon you are nearly there - a bit of careful sanding and you will capture the look. Cheers Darius 1
