RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted September 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 22, 2015 This is certainly giving me inspiration to do a module or two for the Fremo On30 a few fellow modellers have started here in Surrey and exhibited for the first time last weekend
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted September 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 22, 2015 26 /27th a NG expo in a museum in Valkenburg ZH in the Netherlands, 2/3/4 october modell-hobby-spiel Leipzig Germenay and 10/11 october Ramma Sedan France.. Netherlands, Germany and France - that's almost a world tour. Here in the UK many modellers won't go more than 50 miles (80km)to visit a show . . . . . As always, thanks for sharing your inspirational modelling. .

milocomarty
After last weekend I finished my 3 shows tour Valkenburg ZH in the Netherlands, Leipzig Germany and te last one RAMMA Sedan in France. Good opportunity to examine and buy a couple of MK-35 figures..although they look a bit French I think with paint I manage to give them a more US look..They are resin and need to be glued together

milocomarty
Last update on 15 october, been a while. Still building a lot of tuff but mainly on commision. For now I started working on weathering a couple of my cars. Rusty roofs with Ammo rust color paints dabbed on using the sponge technique, Vallejo washes to speed it up. Will follow with some more washes. When finished..oh yes this is only the undercoat I'll spray some layers of chipping fluid, add a red roof color..Maine 2 footers had tin plate roofs and red paint..and start chipping..additional followed with enamel dirt, rust and grime.. more to come
scouser
Ok 'fess up! You left this out in the rain, right? Absolutely brilliant!
milocomarty
Got alot of comments in various FB groups about metal roofwalks..changed the other boxcar to wood..
milocomarty
So I repainted the second cars roof and even worked a bit on faded red paint on the sides by simply adding a white wash from Vallejo.. just one of the many layers
milocomarty
Some heavy chipping on the roof, after I masked the wooden partsI applied a coat of Vallejo chipping medium followed bij a mixture of 3 modelair paint to get the faded redish tone of the Maine 2foot roofs..let it dry for a while and started chipping with a wet brush. Impatient as I am I noticed I should use much thinner layers of paint..One thing more I should coat with a clearcoat between the layers, removing the masking tape I took parts of the wood weathering off with the tape.. Finished with a satin clearcoat for the next enamel based steps
Jeff Smith
Can you please explain how to use the chipping medium - weathering is something I'm just embarking on.....
milocomarty
Jeff, before chipping and adding this medium I work on the rust underneath it..this is a starting point.. result.. paints used.. tools.. Use the clamp with a small piece of sponge the most and dab small amounts of paint on.. result..after a couple of washes, I start from light to dark sometimes finish with a brown wash not in the pictures but that is to your likings.. paints.. From her I just airbrush an amount of chipping medium on, the more medium the heavier the chipping will be..finish with the final color I want, in this case the faded red. After its dry I take a wet brush and start chipping..sounds easy and it is easy..when satisfied let dry and airbrush a final mat clearcoat or if you like some additional dust and other effect with enamel washes and grimes use a satin clearcoat... Hope this explains it a bit..there are a couple of chipping mediums on the market, have to try the Ammo by Mig and the AK interactive stuff..you could use hairspray instead if you like..
Jeff Smith
So is the chipping medium fairly thick, do you sponge and dab with a brush to create surface texture?
milocomarty
I dab with this sponge, gives texture in the rust..spray the medium after this layers..
