2512silverfox
Larry The axleboxes on the GC CCT were as supplied by Danny Pinnock. They seem to be different to those used on Micks example. I do not pretend to be an NE expert, so you may well be right.
micklner
GCR CCT complete One from the past a WCM kit of the GCR Bogie Fish van . This at least 20 years old and was always derailing. I finally had a look at it to find a total dogs ear of a build of the bogies. The wheels were running in the bogie sides without bearings. On taking them apart the reason was the bogies are not wide enough for the axles. I have reduced the axles (never had the tools or the now how when built) fitted bearings and problem solved. Next a build from last year which I never photographed at the time it is a D&S NER Ballast Brake Van The latest project for my layout They are NER Slotted signals Three Homes and One Home/ Distant Signals (which are straight not as in picture !!) . They are a mixture of old D&S etches and current MSE parts. I also have to build three bracket signals in due course hence the number of arms in the pictures. They will be working on the balance levers only I have no intention of motorising them at the present time. Many thanks to Mick Nich and MikeMeg for their help in researching the signals Mick

A handsome vehicle, glad you got it sorted. I've built one of those slotted posts-great satisfaction, not planning a gantry any time soon though! micklner
Latest stage with the NER Slotted Signals. The Home Distant ready for white primer coat then black ladders etc. Then operating wire, lamp and lens. The signal is straight the table isnt !! I am awaiting ladders for the next three. I have refurbished this D&S Dia 20 Brake 3rd it was badly painted and built using superglue 20+ years ago. Stripped rebuilt using solder and in much better condition Mick
micklner
Home /Distant ready for plainting on my layout Bracket Signals first ready for priming I have built two of these Bracket Signals . They and the Home Signals still await parts as I managed to either order the wrong parts and run out of others. I will get the last pieces at Ally Pally this weekend. gobbler
TPO completed. I tried the Modelmaster Decals but on arrival they are not suitable for LNER vehicles which is contrary to the Modelmasters listing . The panels are too wide and wrong height . I therefore added some Red decal panels and added some "lettering" with a Gold Gel Pen not perfect but looks ok from a normal viewing distance. It was lucky that Silver Fox mentioned the Red panels because on further looking at the "Net" side the etch has the letterbox in the wrong panel ( can be seen in earlier photos one panel to the right) I managed to scrape the raised letterbox off with a Swan Morton No 10 blade and used a piece of Microstrip for the letterbox in the correct panel. The GCR CCT has now had all the numerous!! Brass etchings added and awaits the Whitemetal castings next Still had no luck with any further info re this vehicle . Can anyone assist ?? Thanks Mick what are the corridor consertina connectors made from/supplied by? Scott

coachmann
Very intrigued to see your layout as we generally see locos and rolling stock. So full of character and I like those signals. I also note this is not a Blog. I wonder if I made the right move doing one..... If I missed it, whose etchings are the 'Silver Jubilee' coaches? 5XP
Impressive stuff Mick, The coach body itself is one thing but the attention to detail in the interior is something else! Darren.

micklner
Early Hornby Great Northern version of the LNER A1 renamed and numbered Sir Frederick Banbury Solario Real Coal and etched Fire Irons added to tender Another battered NRM A3 converted to Singapore. This was in poorer condition than my Salmon Trout . This required in addition to usual new chimney etc , repairs to boiler bands, lamp irons , doors & ash pan lever. The front steps were both broken off and missing, I made some new ones from a much modified etch from Comet. I have also made a Flaman Speed recorder bracket for the other side of the loco. The previous owner had even managed to break the feed wires to the tender drawbar as well !! The Jubille 1st twin is coming along too one side finished so far (roof nameboards will be added last). Mick
