woodenhead
There is this, not the crisp quality of clean vinyl but it gives some of the delights of these old recordings. https://www.youtube.com/user/bobgellatly 1

RMweb Premium coronach Posted November 29, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 29, 2020 If you search Peter Handford on YouTube there are quite a few albums including original EPs available to listen to
dick rowland
I presume that the 'later this year' on the Transacord website now refers to 2021. Will they release 'Engines on the Bundesbahn' and 'Engines in Germany' before I shuffle of the mortal coil. Does any body have any new information? dick rowland
Checking You Tube, yes there are quite few recordings, unfortunately not the two German recordings that I wanted. I did find two EPs, 'Castles in the Chilterns' and 'The Atlantics and the Terrier', which I had given up on until now. My original vynil ones are virtually unplayable. I found that Peter Handfords recordings are, indeed, masterpieces but, in my experience at least, the quality of the vynil pressing could be awful: lots of 'snap, crackle and pop' between tracks and in quiet sections. No, I did not use my records as ashtrays! Hence my continuing quest for MP3 files, CDs if available or on-line streams.
jonny777
One of my favourites is this recording - https://www.mediafire.com/file/zjsjr595rm117t7/v2_leaving_grantham.mp4/file Guaranteed to strike horror into the hearts of every GWR enthusiast.
dick rowland
Transacord are back! http://www.transacord.co.uk/ I bought 'Trains in the Hills' last night. For Four and a half quid I cannot complain, as I expect from Peter an excellent recording.

RMweb Premium ColinK Posted June 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 28, 2021 Good news, while I know what a mp3 is, what is FLAC and will it play on a Mac (with sound routed through hifi speakers)?

Definitely a V2, 'Gresley knock' and all And a Streak running through as well.
great central
The antidote to a 'knocking' V2 is on the Great Central album, one, possibly 60831 but I can't get to my copy to check at the moment, tearing through Princes Risborough on the overnight newspaper train! 60831 went on to become one of the last V2s active in England based at York As well as a 9F making pretty rapid progress with a summer passenger service.
