You are going to need a lot more vans as well as an O4.

Who'd have thought that an 04 could pull 50 vans? I think that's outside your plan for small and simple, Rob.

That'd be half of Ikea's shelving gone to fit those in !

We were exchanging messages - I'm looking into one of the Sparkshot bodies as I have a 03 chassis with a failed crankshaft which under skirts can be cut off!

Morning all.

A smashing bit of film thanks to Ewe Tube.

After the departure of the J70s but I really enjoyed this.

Looks like we shall definitely need an 04. Thanks due to Chris (Gilbert) for the heads up on a solution to that one.

A fantastic bit of film! A close bit of fly shunting at 2 1/2 minutes.  Definitely "of it's age" though - referring to "a motley crew of students and gypsies..."

Agreed, a great bit of film and I was surprised just how many wagons made up the train even that late in the lines existence.

Impressive uncoupling on the move for that fly shunt and interesting to see the lorries flying past the train. Someone, somewhere must have done the maths over the number of men x number of lorries versus a handful of men and a handful of trains and come up with a figure.

The country may have gone to hell in a handcart with unemployment, crime, economic and social problems, but at least we can congratulate ourselves over our imported healthy lunches that we've tackled the use of "outdated language" ... :jester:

Bit naughty of the poster to blank out the East Anglian Film Archive logo though.

The original archived film can be seen full screen here.

Some interesting links along the bottom of that page including JB DMU'ing through East Anglia.

Rather thrown by the 04 reference, there I was thinking a big 2-8-0 engine, lots of mineral wagons and you actually meant a diddy diesel.
