That's almost as fancy as the NER loco dept offices at Darlington.

Wasn't that latterly the BR pensions offices. No wonder the recipients can afford to live such opulent life styles. I bet all day is spent eating cake(s).

Oh summic else; I was always taught it was bad practice to continually enter using the tradesmen entrance.

I did notice a hiccup around 0.46 secs. My first one used to do that as it passed the frogs. ( no pigeons or sparrows). That's what concerns me.

Also, I like locos to slow gradually to a halt, like the large metallic objects they represent. I know I'm fussy.

I agree entirely. The mass of even the smallest locomotive means that the acts of stopping and starting need to be very smooth. I haven't much experience of running many model locomotives under realistic conditions, but have found that most of my ready to run steam models need a fair bit of attention out of the box before they will start and stop with that gentle motion. Bachmann C Class and Hornby Black Motor have been the best of that breed. SLW Sulzer Type 2 and Heljan Type 3 diesels have been good straight out of the box.

You can delete that last sentence if you wish. :P

I'm quite partial to a diseasel or two.

Bleat Wharf would be a jolly place with a class 14, class 22 and a Hymek warbling about. Add in an 03 and an 08 and it would all be quite good fun methinks.

I've mentioned I'm thinking of a new layout. I'm contemplating documenting it on here. Start to finish.

I reckon I can build a working layout within a really short space of time if I do some prep first. The caveat is that I won't compromise on standards so a bit of pre-weathering etc may be in order.

Usual 120cm x 40cm scenic section, BLT..........

Mmmmmm....thoughts?

Perhaps I should have split my last post.

To confirm, I'm not building a diseaselly layout. Nope the next one will be the usual antiquated kettles shuffling about.

I thank ewe.

At least it ' a train story but not quite sure I should admit to knowing about this.

I often wonder if any body asked the goats opinion about these goings on.  (I don't really).

I think that's a wonderful idea.

There are several places around here where people can pick up on your ideas and methods and develop their own skills accordingly. There are also some gaps! To be able to go to one thread and find out how you go about all of it would be really inspirational.

I think that the weathering should all be part of the story, too, because there's no doubt that that plays a big part in your portrayal of subjects for Norman's lenses.

A bit of industry, perhaps?

Thanks Mick.

I'm giving this a bit of thought now. I need to work out what I have in stock as it were and what I need in addition.

Then I have to work out what I can do ahead of the actual build.

With regards to industry, I think Sheep Dip has satisfied that itch for now.

This will be a BLT. Nothing fancy. Sometime ago I mooted a terminus on a 4ft board. I proved to myself it was viable.

I might actually plan this one.

Thanks Wooders,

I'm aware of North Leigh. Nice layout but a tad busy for me.

In my head I know what I want to do. It's all about making sure it fits as space will be at a premium but the trick is avoiding things looking too contrived and squashed.

That would be a bad thing.

Single Maunsell BCK or a push pull set?

Lonely platform, lots of grass and maybe somewhere to leave a solitary coal wagon or two?

Thinking about it Wooders, you've just described Mutton.
