The Bristol and Exeter Railway operated the Somerset Central when it was broad gauge. So you can run trains operated by a company that became part of the GWR, and then the Western Region, over part of what later became the S&D. You just need to go further back in time by a century or so :sungum:.

Thank you all for you thoughts thus far. Looking at various ideas. This will probably be a small riverside through station.

Really do want a bit of water, to encourage some local wildlife.....

There's a lot of unbuilt schemes in the South Hams :)

Do you need a list?

Thanks. Would be handy.

I have a location in mind but it's based entirely in fiction...

Rob.

From Tony Kingdom's Ashburton Branch book, page 70

  • Yealmpton to Modbury and Kingsbridge
  • Kingsbridge to Torcross and Dartmouth
  • Kingsbrige to Salcombe
  • Extension  of Totnes Quay via Dittisham to Dartmouth
  • Extension of Ashburton as a diversionary route to Exeter as part of a Plymouth-Exeter scheme.

And one I found on the web - Wembury.

Why not do something a bit different?

- Goods only (passenger services withdrawn perhaps)

- Former through route (like one suggested by Coombe Barton above), but now truncated beyond your location

- Industrial adjunct (with it's own loco)

Would you like the full sausage coverage on this thread, by the way, or just the 5 minute version?

Couldn't pull the skin off a limp rice pudding, that one, when working on the WSR in 1981...

Many pieces of ballast were crushed on Washford Bank, in an attempt to get her and her train to the top...

Oh yes please, very nice, but I fear that CTMK will not permit the onions... such a shame!

Full sausage please. In for a penny, in for a pound...
