RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 5, 2020 Wanted to add that a Kernow expedition to this show had been contemplated, but other local and domestic type duties have to take priority this weekend. Also, some modest afforestation work is taking place 'somewhere in Radnorshire', which is also a priority. Enjoy the Sunday too, Rob. Are bacon butties still served there? 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted January 5, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Evening all. The dust is quietly settling in the aftermath of what will be remembered as one of my favourite exhibitions. The chance to show to others my 'nod' to the S&DJR, at a show put on by those who seek to remember and promote the S&DJR, was one which I looked forward to. It did not disappoint and over the last two days many stopped to chat about the S&D in general, their memories and their thoughts on the layout. Many familiar faces popped up and a few new ones introduced themselves. It was great to meet everyone. It really was thoroughly enjoyable. Bleat behaved itself and 43875 and 43474 did extremly well shuffling about the place. A huge part of the way the two days went was due to Alex ( Wiggers of the parish) who spent most of the two days operating Bleat. Thank you so very much and the same thanks must go to Liz, the Memsahib Wiggers who basically left us to it, as did the Memsahib Sheepbloke and Sheepbloke Minor who came over with me and helped set up and take down. The organisers were splendid and so very kind and we were struck by how everyone we encountered simply wanted to help and assist. This extended to outside the show and made for a very pleasant weekend all round. Snags? Well, there is very little to attend to ahead of Bleat's next outing at the Small Cardiff show in two weeks time. Not much at all, just a couple of tweaks. Therefore I raise a glass.... wiggoforgold
It was an excellent show, and operating Bleat was great fun. Sheepbloke minor did some good operating too. I came away with some new ideas, so all. In all a most useful weekend. Alex

Plan A is to build Lamb Regis to compliment Mutton but a pre-grouping example appeals........a lot. The Pecketts are verging on the collecting but both are attractive in their own right. 1456 will match 'Dodo' and '560'......... 1426 is a Welsh engine as per photo below. Rob. That second photo could be the inspiration for a fantastic micro layout. Edited January 7, 2020 by SVRlad

The safety valves are a good start. That doesn't invalidate older models, of course, and if yours pleases, then stick with it. 2

I have rather foolishly perhaps pre-ordered both Pecketts and two of the L&SWR Terriers from my local emporium. One of the Terriers will be renumbered as 734 giving me the two original locos on the Lamb Regis branch. Rob. 2 1
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted January 7, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2020 In other news and I blame Wiggers for this, it's gone a tad Western at the Wharf.
