Yes, I know it says L&NER on the notice board but things can change........and I think the building does look the part here.

No, that bits fine, it's the locomotive that needs changing.

Now that's an interesting notion. I know even less about wine than I know about Art, but perhaps I should have a go at taking the pisse there too!

The best way to enjoy modern art galleries is to take a twelve-year-old grand-daughter, with outspoken views on most things. Here we are enjoying one of the few exhibits that was actually good fun. Most of the rest we made fun of.

There's plenty of stuff in the album to illustrate the point. I had as much fun out of photographing the architecture and visitors.

Well, I found it became more pleasing as our host gradually added more buildings to block it from view.

My first model loco was a pannier tank - 5708. It was a Gaiety diecast body on a Triang chassis that had been converted for Hornby 3-rail track. Eventually I defected to the S&D.

The little chap does look at home..........nothing else looks the part and certainly not quite the small Southern shunty goods yard I had in mind.

I lay the blame in a number of directions.....

Panniers.

Recent acquisition of what is very much a Great Western goods shed, despite my best efforts to think otherwise.

Panniers

Bethesda Sidings.

Snap - except that I also developed a liking for things LNER (GNR) / Metropolitan / SBB-CFF!

Try finding a home to suit all that lot?

Regards

Chris H

P.S. - I also have a liking for S&DJR / M&GNR / SNCF, but you have to draw a line somewhere!

Taking an engineering student to the Tate Modern on her 21st birthday after a bottomless Presseco lunch is probably a similar experience, we weren’t left wondering  about her opinions on modern art.

Tut, tut. Surely that should be "as though", not "as if"?

Thanks Al.

Yes, have to agree.  I do like locos emerging from between  or around buildings.

There will be a buffer stop between the end of the 16 tonner  and the wooden lean to.  Perhaps a cobbled/ hard standing to the front and side of the 'garage'. The vehicle  entry to the yard will be between the barn to the left and small hut, parallel to the Pannier.

Green area to the front of the barn.........

I can see it now...

Or you couldleave out the buffer stop, and set up a barbers in the, repurposed,

wooden shack.

(With due acknoledgements to a previous member or GMRC).

Morning all.

A few more thoughts this morning. Popping a slight tweak in the running lines adds a little something in my humble opinion.

In addition, thanks to some very welcome intervention, I am moving away from my usual small radius points and gravitating to medium radius.........

Have you considered putting the two loop lines diagonally across the board, and the goods shed front left ?

Morning Stu.

I did as it happens but decided against it for two reasons...

The shed is big.....very big. It would dominate proceedings.

By putting it to the front, you lose the open look and potentially  create a void behind it. Better to have space to the front and look across, towards the shed.

Cheers Rob - I'm about to use a SMS (77L RUB) board for a small rural branch but its only 110cm which makes a big difference. I do want a two coach long loop which rather dictates the design. It will have 55cm fiddle yard at each end.

I see that the pannier is still there.

Mind you, a small goods yard might demand a small pannier - http://www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/c/1694/16XX

Just saying.

Unfortunately if you want a RTR 16XX, it's the only game in town.

This is true and in terms of quality of model, it's every bit as good as the Rapido one, if not perhaps a bit better, in my opinion, but they are big hulking brutes of locos and possibly not quite 'the thing' for a discerning, quality gentleman's goods yard.
