They get everywhere.......

As do those SR Pillbox brake vans, as seen in the prototype photo.....

Mind you, I remember Railway Modeller printing a pic of one in the far north of Scotland, so that one's possibly only enjoying a long weekend away.:)

There has been some sheep action in our village- a gang of EU immigrant sheep are breaking into a house with a wonky roof. They have even posted a look out on the wall!

Morning all.

Following on from a bit of correspondence with Pencarrot, I dug out one of Muttons regular coaches, a Hornby Maunsell rebuild jobbie.

Here it is perched on Bleat Wharf.

I must get around to weathering the other one........

Rob.

Is that the rail-replacement taxi service....?

In relation to said diesel, I can do no better than quote from Kernow's website.

Mini-history - Copyright Kernow Model Rail Centre / Simon Bendall

New from Swindon Works in October 1958, D2028

Which makes it a sort of honorary pannier tank :)  :jester:

You're not wrong, Mike. As it says, built at Swindon.

However, unlike recent acquisitions of Swindon products,  the oily chap works quite well...............

Of note perhaps and somewhar accidental on my part, J15 65475 and Oily chap D2028 were both Cambrdge locos for a little while in 1959.

475 was withdrawn in late 1959 but 2028 stayed for a while afterwards.

That sort of sets the time period for Project X.

Another potential loco for Project X.

How about a slightly larger oily fellow, of the 350 hp variety?

Afternoon Tim.

Funnily enough, I am thinking of one..........and a Class 15.

That would do it diesel wise.

Now you've got the diesel (it's an 03, by the way) why not introduce a passenger service with a Heljan W&M railbus?

I'm sure I read somewhere that the location portrayed in Project X was one of the last (and sadly undocumented photographically) outposts of 4 and 6 wheel weatherbeaten maroon coaches...

Sorry to disappoint chaps, Project X is goods only.

Other than a dubious full brake I wouldn't expect to see any coaches or railbuses hereon.

Just spotted a nice bit of shunting action and some wagon details in the Chilldrens Film Foundation film 'Night Ferry' on Talking Pictures at the moment ... I've just checked and you can find five minutes of it on Youtube at

So, we have a BR/Drewry 204hp shunter infiltration, with potential for a BR 350hp shunter and  a BTH Type 1. Rob's journey to the dark side of dieselisation has started. :O

I will predict they run better than recent steam loco purchases too :jester:
