Both appear to possess large buffers dangling off an interesting chassis.

I remember those books from when I was about nine years old, weren't they all named after railway engineers?

They were indeed, Rob.

I remember being utterly drawn in by these books.

Couldn't resist picking this one up.

We're they the little people who lived on the lad's model railway?

I also liked the Forrest of Bowland Light Railway books.

Morning all,

After a bit of a busy/frustrating/bang head on desk/no time to scratch my @rse  sort of time in work over the last few weeks/months I can now draw breath for a bit as I now have a week off with the Memsahib and Memsahib Minor.

Inevitably, there are the 'jobs' to be attended to but somewhere hidden amongst it all will be 'modelling time' and 'reading time'

I will of course make some progress with Project X, however little that progress might be. Aside from that, there will also be some opportunity to play with my new friends, the diseasals of which, I have my eye on another example...............

Updates to follow.

Rob.

You're allowed crayons now then?

Now that you've stopped eating them, yes.
