RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted August 12, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 12, 2021 Morning all, In the tradtion of maintaining molluscesque progress, I have sourced and cut the top of the baseboard. 9mm MDF will provide track level. Ground level will be another 3 or 4mm above this using DAS to bring things up to roughly the tops of the sleepers which in turn should be ballast level. Water level is therefore some 10mm ish below ground level so 2ft 6 or thereabouts. This will look a bit more once stcky up grass and stuff is added. However, please note the approximation in parts of the above statement. Things kind of evolve as I go along so varying degrees of latutude will be exercised, as per usual M.O. That said, I have given this layout some thought. One could almost say there's been an element of prior planning provided to Project X which may yet prevent a potentially p!ss poor performance. Presumably. 21

I thought possibly Edwardian era although after delving through several albums I eventually found my 'LPTB and Minor Railways' album and the card - which is all too obviously 'pu' (= Postally used) - was posted in Forest Gate in 1905 so the photo will be at least a bit older. Another, 'mint', card I have is a well known view of Mumbles Pier and it has similar vehicles visible at the railway's terminus and somebody wrote on the back - over 100 years ago judging by the writing. 'July 1913. So I presume various of those sorts of vehicles came to the railway between its conversion to steam power in the 1870s and the electrification in 1928 although the four wheelers might even date back to the horse drawn era. 4
