Absolutely brilliant Rob

I for one would find a thread on your techniques very useful.

Afternoon *,

Good to see you and thank you for those kind words.

I have a weathering thread here....

Some things are detailed on that thread but most are buried within this one.

PM me if I can help with anything in particular.

Rob.

Inspiring set of pictures there Rob, the wagons could easily pass for 7mm scale models and the closeup could be the real thing. I have long experience in rust  and the effects of age on paint with my line of work.

Compare with this:

So is that before or after you've weathered it.

Thanks Stu but at the rate I'm going, I'll still be building the layout up to the morning of the show.

For a variety of reasons, it's gradually unraveling....................No panic has set in.......yet. Three months to go and I am working on the layout once a week if I'm lucky.

Too much grown up stuff going on at the moment and I really don't like to start jobs that I can't finish  or have to rush. That said, I might have to rethink that particular approach.

One hopes however that it will look a bit clearer in a couple of weeks.

Morning Pencarrot,

Thank you. I'm only too glad that I don't model the South Wales Valleys in the mid to late  60s and therefore need tens of the things. I take far too long to finish just one let alone a rake of them.

That said, it is quite therapeutic.

All aspects of weathering are fun but I think I prefer wooden wagons to steel but each present their own challenges and accompanying level of fun/frustration/problem solving.

At least limiting myself to bijou goods only 4mm cameoesque adventures ( for now at least ) I need very few wagons.

Morning all,

Little to report by way of modelling activity, time for which is proving tricky to find at present.

I'm also looking to 'thin the collection'.

I'm looking to move on a few locos and will be putting a list together shortly.

This will include a couple of Bachmann Green 08s which have been replaced by Hornby equivalents.

There's also a few J15s which could go along with an 03 and possibly a small Prairie.

All are boxed with detail packs where appropriate.

I'm also thinking of moving on Mutton if anyone is interested in taking it on.

Happy to discuss any of the above by way of PM prior to a formal advert going out.

Rob.

Ahem, update.

Muttons looks to have a new owner and very appropriate they are to boot.

Of the locos, the 03, a J15, an 08 and the 4575 have found new homes.

A couple more may be on their way soon and that may well be it for now and normal service will be resumed.

as of today it looks like Sheep Dip has it's first 'face to face' exhibition

That's interesting, I thought I'd seen it somewhere already, Taunton Members Day in 2019, possibly or Cardiff in January 2020?

Morning Tim,

No. Taunton in 2019 was Bleat Wharf as was Small Cardiff show. I started building Sheep Dip in Jaunary 20 and it was in the virtual SWAG in April '20.

It's not actually been out and about.
