Jack374
Evening all... A proactive day was had today as I've got the second board ready for foam/track, and wired up the first board fully. So, the second board has had softwood diagonals added and the board is now solid- no twist at all. This doesn't compromise the weight too much either so it's a win win. I also added the backscene in the same way as before, it's not finished but looks 'right': The DCC wiring on the first board is now complete, so I'll run some trains soon! Droppers were soldered to each isolated piece of rail, then simply soldered to a bus 'bar' (slug tape...basically sticky back copper tape. It's really cheap too!), then tidied up with a staple gun: Close up of the 'busiest' bit: That's that! Hopefully next week I can get some trains running and start the scenics and ballasting etc., but I'm away all (long) weekend, and I've been promised a day at Barnetby and Donny! Happy modelling! Jack.

Jack374
Evening all, Thanks again for all the likes/comments, much appreciated! Just a couple of piccies after a little 'running session' now the first board is wired up. The lights show it all works.... After a re jig of the railway room, the boards have been stored for a bit, but once I've layed my new 'roundy roundy' curcuit, I'll get them out and start again. Happy modelling! Jack374
Afternoon, Now I'm able to put the two current boards next to each other, I've taken the oppurtunity to pose some stock on the layout in the sequence after loading of ballast hoppers. First, the 08 (or resident shunter...may get a sentinel) shunts the wagons out of the quarry sidings. The train loco can be seen in a siding. Then the 08 either shunts back down the loading line, or In to the siding, and the loco shunts onto the train: Coupled up and ready to depart! More soon, Jack.

Intercity 125
This looks very good, I like the idea of lasercut baseboards, we've recently received a second lasercutter at school which I'm going to put to good use for my new layout and my model buses. They're very useful bits of kit aren't they? IC125

Intercity 125
Yes they are, just make sure your CAD measurements are right! Jack. Yes, I've screwed up things by getting measurements wrong, I once nearly made the mould for an Alexander/Transbus ALX400 which would produce a model a scale foot too long! That was for the CNC milling machine though... IC125 (Also a Jack!)

I've got five boards to do in total, so you can learn from mistakes on every board and get it right.
Jack374
Evening! So today track laying has commenced on the second board, the straight concrete line was layed yesterday, the point(s) and and connecting pieces were layed today, and the final piece on the loop I've just layed. Pictures will explain better, and a cheeky shot of a ballast train has been added too. Thanks, Jack.
Jack374
Afternoon all... Slow but sure progress recently, I've just started ballasting, and I unfortunately fit into the 'tortoise and hair' ideology when it comes to ballasting. Return in a year or so and it may nearly be done! In other news all the track is now layed on the fully scenic boards, bar a couple of siding extensions as I underestimated the length needed. Also most of my ballast stock is on at the mo as I'm hoping to get round to weathering them soon... Stay tuned for more soon! (hopefully!) Jack374
I've just taken a couple of shots of a GBRF shed with a train of 'Falcons' (JNA bogie boxes) from different angles, one an aerial view of the train arriving, then a second low down one of it reversing into the (currently imaginary) quarry: Thanks, Jack.
Jack374
Today I've wired up the second board and had a bit of a play. So here's the wiring, a fairly simple affair to wire it all up to a bus: First off Freightliner 66532 arrived with a rake of Autoballasters, and backed into the (non existent) quarry: Then 37411 arrived with a couple of wagons, and left light engine. And 66532 shunted onto the train of Network Rail wagons: You can also see I've done slightly more ballasting than the last post, as I said, it will get done...eventually! Thanks, Jack.

Marcus 37
Oh yes. Can't get way from the places. Was at Stud Farm last night, and tomorrow night I'm at Croft. If you want any info please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers Marcus
Jack374
Evening... A couple of photos showing one of my current WB projects 37259, just because! (More details in my workbench thread (signature)) Also, I've got a coach for sale! The model is of 975280 that ran with the old SGT, the one with the funny black wagon in the middle. I bought it but have lost interest in modelling the train as it doesn't run now. The coach is Model Rail Ltd. Ed. 39-225Z produced for Kernow MRC. It is in excellent condition and has only been run twice, and I've kept the original paperwork, detail pack and tissue paper sleeve. £45 posted. Please PM me if you've any questions or you want more pictures: Happy Modelling! Jack.
Jack374
It's me again! This week I've been slowly adding orange piping, point motors and cabinets. These are Peco cosmetic point motors, plasticard pipe painted orange with black ends and Hornby cabinets I had lying around. The point motors are mounted on tea stirrer sleepers and I've added the extra cosmetic tie bar from a cocktail stick. Cabling will be added after ballasting: And I had a play with 60042, which came to evict the two shunters and plonk them in a siding further up the line, out of the way. I've recently had the tug on my workbench...details will appear there soon... All good fun! Thanks, Jack.

Jack374
With the tracks of Fordley empty because of engineering possessions, 57309 arrived today on a Crewe Gresty Bridge (DRS)-Fordley Quarry Sdgs. light engine move. Here it is arriving: And setting back into the siding: Such fun! Jack.
