I know what you mean; the contrast looks extreme in the photo but not as much in ‘reality’. It looks like the sun is the 2nd man! woodenhead
This grimy layout and Bradfield are my types of layout - so how the hell have I ended up with all the GW and Southern stuff. Really need to sort my head out and build something Northern. As others have said, this model is stunning. 1 1 1

I have, however, expanded an operating schedule during lots of running sessions so I don't feel guilty for the lack of progress! I took some images over a few sessions, and because most of my recent images haven't featured many locomotives I thought I'd add a few now. So much to do but I am enjoying playing trains too much! Regards, Pete Amazing layout! 3
Jamiel
Really nice to see the station in operation, both the 'making of' and 'running' posts are really inspiring.

Northern is good, though some would suggest I may be biased, the area that is and not necessarily the TOC.
BurscoughCurves
Hi All, Not an update I’m afraid (although there will be soon), just a quick post to say seasons greetings! Hope you are all able to have a nice break and get plenty of modelling done! All the best, Pete 13 1
Popular Post BurscoughCurves
Hi all, Well we're almost at my provisional deadline for major scenic work being completed... and I've failed! I spent most of my time over the Christmas break relaxing (non-modelling) and boarding out the loft (unfortunately also non-modelling but it could be a great space for a much larger layout...) so I'm predictably behind schedule! I have just finished the last of the major buildings; the full relief row of terraces. I'm quite pleased with them and my mind now turns to how I'm going to set them into the landscape. I also detailed and weathered a Halifax Joint Committee bus from Chester Model Centre which I will have just enough room to display, hopefully! Please find images below. I will upload some of the illuminated rooms shortly. Regards, Pete 16

Simon Moore
Effing hell fire this has come on since I last checked in. It's a superb layout, captures everything correctly about the west riding. I live near Bradford & deliver in & around the halifax & the calder valley & this captures my everyday sights perfectly. Lovely stuff. 1 2

Does Bacup have a permanent home these days Jason? Mine are based on images from a row in Huddersfield and Halifax. I think I've made a mistake though; I prefer the look of the out-houses with the roof sloping away from the garden but I think it is more typical sloping into the garden. I presume this is so rain off your roof flows into your own property, not your neighbours. I noticed this early on but prefer the shape the way I have them, and can live with it. Back yards have been detailed, and I am currently embossing numerous cobbles in DAS. Pete 17
Mrkirtley800
Don’t forget the Midens. Those models are the image of the street of back to back terraced houses in which my auntie Mabel and uncle Walter lived in Armley (Leeds). They did not have much of a yard, a couple of strides and you were in the street. There were no loos in the house, but each house had its own in the miden situated up the street. There were streets of houses like these in the district, and during WW2 gaps appeared which made playgrounds for us. trustytrev
Hello, Here in Lancashire it was red brick at the rear. Only the front of houses were done in fancy stone for the sake of appearance. It could be where the phrase "Putting on a front" originated. trustytrev.
richard.h
Excellent work with great attention to detail, my grandmothers house in Saltaire Village was just like that (complete with tin bath hung on the wall) looking forward to seeing the completed scenario.
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted February 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 22, 2020 Hi Pete. Bacup is no more, there was no real way of converting it to EM and the baseboards were truly awful. Plus, I became more interested in industrial railways when building The Mill so the next layout is likely to be a gritty industrial line weaving its way past the buildings of Bacup (all saved and stored) with exchange sidings if space allows 5

Popular Post BurscoughCurves
Hi all, Hope everyone is keeping well in light of the current situation. After some scribing and imprinting cobbles in DAS, and a liberal coating of base colour I am almost ready to wire up the street lights and get some grass down. Please find a few test images below. Take care, Pete 17
RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted March 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 22, 2020 This feels over critical of such a good scene, but I know that you like to get things right. All the round Post Boxes that I can remember were mounted near the kerb, door facing inwards. Square. post mounted, as you have shown, but not round ones. If someone can direct to a photo like yours, I’ll happily get back in my box and shut up! Paul.
