ecgtheow
This is a request for help for me to repair 3 MR/LMS locomotives bought at auction & then damaged in the post. All 3 suffered damaged Salter safety valves (see photo of one damaged loco below). It seems that only Alan Gibson supply Salter safety valves, but they appear to come attached to the dome? Obviously I don't want to replace the dome unless I have too, as it will be difficult not to cause more damage when removing the existing one, but even if that repair is successful, the paint on the new dome will never match the crimson lake on rest of the loco. Can anyone advise me of a supplier of just the Salter safety valves, or whether I should just repair the valves with the broken parts, or any other good ideas to affect the repairs? Thanks in advance. William
buffalo
Strange, I've just checked the Gibson catalogue and it does say "and dome", thoough I'm sure the last time I used them they were separate parts. It's probably worth phoning Colin to see if he will supply the valves separately. Nick

RMweb Premium Nile Posted January 30, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2015 The dome and valves are separate parts, but only sold together as a pack.
burgundy
Branchlines used to have salter balances as a separate item and you then need to fashion the levers up from some wire. Hope this helps Best wishes Eric

John_Miles
Hobbyhorse seem to be 7mm only. What scale are your locos?
ecgtheow
Thanks for the helpful responses. Hobbyhorse do seem to be 7mm & 16 mm scale, so I will order Salter valves & Johnson domes from Alan Gibson & see how I get on. William
