ejstubbs
In the September 1967 edition of Railway Modeller there's a photo of an LMS Dining Car. It has a clerestory roof and sits on six-wheeled bogies. The caption reads: "The unhappy-looking specimen now reposes at the British Transport Museum at Clapham in full M.R. glory." Does anyone know if this is the same MR dining car that now lives at the NRM in York?
Poor Old Bruce
Presumably, how many can there be? although I don't understand why it should look "unhappy .... in full M.R.glory." It was obviously fit to run mainline behind Duchess of Hamilton when celebrating 100 years of on-train catering in 1979.
Devo63
I don't understand why it should look "unhappy .... in full M.R.glory. At the time that the photo in RM was taken the car was still running in a rather worn simplified LMS livery and was just before restoration inside and out for the old Clapham museum. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted February 2, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2015 It helped that a certain David Jenkinson got a senior job at the NRM and was a Midland fan. I believe that he was instrumental in getting it to run on the special in 1979. Jamie
Greenbat
Yes, it will be. There is about a third of another one rotting away by the old Cromford Canal too. http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=5262
