I’ve always loved this thread and the highest level of modelling achieved. Everything just  “feels right” and blends with, and flows naturally into the next area.

 

The great outage which wiped out all the pictures is an immense loss.

A few more pics of doings at KM.  Mainly shunting operations, I haven’t run a passenger all year,but Iwill enlarge on that later.

First is my class M, now just about 60 years old.  I built it in 1962

On another day, another goods is being handled by a 3030 class engine. In truth a George  Norton kit, built about 25 years ago.

I painted this one, Larry Goddard the class M.

On this occasion the loco is making up an empty and sets off for Skipton yard, picking up at the intermediate stations on the way.

 

Yard still full of wagons.  Busy day at the office, I suppose.

So does the second one have 4'10" wheels instead of 5'3" wheels that the M has Derek?

Another shot of the afternoon goods setting off.  Because of the amount of stock in the yard,the made up train was stored on the up line.

NPCS in foreground are in the milk dock.

A though occurs - were these third brakes painted green to match the workmens' carriages, or did they stay in fully-lined red?

I'm not sure I know of any photos of these workmens' trains! The chaps with the big plate cameras were prosperous gents living near the London extension, mostly interested in catching a single on the Scotch Express, not exploring the intricate network of lines in the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire coalfield.
