Have wanted an ice cream van to place on my layout for some time but there was nothing suitable so have made one by cutting a  Oxford models Mk 3 transit van cab and joining it to the back of an Oxford models Mercedes ice cream van

The milkman has finally turned up, time for a cup of tea, this is modified from a Oxford Diecast Wales & Edwards 'Standard' milk float with the front rebuilt to create the more modern rounded front as found on the Unigate floats. Number plate is of a real Unigate vehicle found on a photograph from the internet which shod it operating in Dunstable

Here's one I did a few years ago, one of the experimental Foden "Bulkrane" project vehicles. A lightly-modified RTI cab on a shortened Trackside Guy chassis with Littlebus wheels, the front four fitted with the excellent etched hubcaps from Mark Hughes. The bodywork was entirely scratchbuilt in plasticard, with brass tube for the hydraulic rams. The MU-type containers were made from some spherical containers from an old Joueff wagon, with extra details. The portal arms elevate and the spreader beam swivels. fbk.JPG.e892f49c3dd6a0837a05cd0fdc53ff05.JPGbk2.JPG.5524abbfd9a007042c40ed96d5e8644c.JPGI've so far found details of four of these Bulkranes, all slightly different (plus the 6-wheeled S20-cabbed prototype). The ones that entered service were registered HRO 944/5/6 and HRO 898, but there may have been others - any photographic evidence would be most welcome. At least one was converted into a flatbed and repainted in the yellow British Rail livery, and at least one found it's way into private ownership as a generator van with Gerry Cottle's Circus. Apparently, none survive - unless anyone knows different.

A good friend of mine has purchased an ex BR Escort Mk 4 Combi Van to restore to its former glory, I thought I would have a go at recreating it in 1/76 scale using 2 escort XR3i donor models, will swap the wheels with a Cortina model I have as these are clearly XR3i wheels which it would not have had fitted

Following on from the Escort Combi build ,I have swapped the XR3i wheels with those from mk3 Cortina which have hub cabs and are more in keeping with the BR spec vehicle.

I noticed the oxford cortina is a GT and  decided to customise it with spare parts from the XR3i, used photos from google for the interior colours.

Surprisingly the Oxford Mk3 interior detail is very good even down to the correct steering wheel, left the front seats black as if they had been purchased from a breakers.

Escort Combi Van is now finished (well apart from adding the rear windscreen wiper). After it was pointed out that the tailgate was incorrect I adding an additional roof section in place which moved the rear tailgate back into the correct position and angle. Unfortunately the rear window was too long with the increased angle so this was cut off using a piercing saw and anew tailgate formed from plasticard. It became a bit like Frankenstein monster made from many parts but I am pleased with the overall result. The seat fabric and door panels on the real vehicle were photographed and printed out as transfers applied to the model.
