RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 14, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 14, 2015 When are the nudes coming our way? They're aimed at the British market, stiff upper lips only.
Devo63
They're aimed at the British market, stiff upper lips only. Stiff upper - oh lips. Lie back and think of England.
Butler Henderson
Look very similar to Bachmanns figures e.g. the police set 73004 is identical to Bachmann 36-
wamwig
And it looks like 73006 is the same as another of the Bachmann sets (36-040), albeit painted differently! However the others all look new
steveb860
Look very similar to Bachmanns figures e.g. the police set 73004 is identical to Bachmann 36-041 Actually, the figures Bachmann retail are Preiser figures re-badged.
BernardTPM
Actually, the figures Bachmann retail are Preiser figures re-badged. They once were, but they are no longer. When they were Preiser they came in packets like this (though not so battered!): Another one in the 'new' Preiser range, no.73001. Looking closer you can see the difference, for example two from the old 36-029 'Businessmen' set (now Preiser 73006) on the left and the made in China current 36-040 on the right. Note the newer ones are rather younger (ageism?):
BernardTPM
I've checked back on the original Bachmann figure sets. There were seven sets in total, six of which are in the new Preiser range. Two of the old series have very near copies in the current range, while three more have similar sets, but with differences in the poses and subsidiary items (shown in brackets). Two have no exact equivalent in the current Bachmann range. Note one missing number in the new Preiser range - perhaps the P Way men? In the new Preiser range 73008-13 are completely new. BernardTPM
Hmm, Gordon Brown and Nick Clegg?
wamwig
Shows the difference in quality between the Preiser figures and those currently offered by Bachmann!
Mad McCann
One on the right looks like a young David Steel. May appeal to Waverley Route modellers! ;-)
Allegheny1600
Oh! I see what has happened here! Someone has clearly copied the Preiser originals, you can see how the moulding of the copy is clearly less defined than the original not to mention the cruder paintwork. I find it a bit "off" that Bachmann are selling these. I'm guessing that Preiser are also miffed with Bachmann and that is why they have decided to break into the British market - good on them, I say! John E.
