Professional, wow ! Been hanging around Steve for to long

I hope you cleaned all that ballast out of the bath

Boards look very smart

Richard

Richard,

Your right about Steve, it was his suggestion to not leave them as bare wood.

Yes I made sure I got every little bit out of the bath, if I hadn’t I would have got shot. It was made very clear that I better of made sure I didn’t scratch the bath either.

Thanks.

Carl

Hi all,

Track laying has commenced today on the fiddle yard at the Redhill end of the layout.

post-7442-0-45927600-1542553662_thumb.jpeg

I have used settrack radius 1,2,3 and 4 for the loops.

The outer loop can take two 7 coach trains

Outer Middle loop can take a 6 coach and a 7 coach train

Inner middle loop can take a 5 coach and a 7 coach train

The inner loop can take three 3 coach trains ( will be used for DEMU and DMU’s)

Cheers

Hi all,

I have made some real progress with track laying over the last few weeks. Just got the Tonbridge fiddle yard, the road in the yard with the inspection pit on and the link loop to Platform 1.

Hi all,

I had a gap in today’s driving lessons, so I went in the loft and made a start on all the dead end roads in the fiddle yard at the Tonbridge end.

post-7442-0-82475700-1544129298_thumb.jpeg

I have been able to fit 15 roads in here the longest is 50” and allows trains 9 coaches long, they run all the way down to 2-3 car DEMU/DMU’s. With this and the loops at both ends I should be able to get about 40 different trains. That should allow a nice variety of trains to run.

Cheers

Excellent work Carl

Just think of all the wiring that’s next.

Keep up the good work mate.

Steve.

Steve,

Yes im not looking forward to all the wiring, think we worked it out at at least two 25 pin cables for each board.

Hi all,

Finished off the track work as far as I can for now. I need to get a ST6 settrack point to finish off the crossover in the Tonbridge fiddle yard. Also need to install the inspection pit in the siding closest to the wagon repair offices.

Here is a google earth view of all the layout board by board from Redhill to Tonbridge.

Hi Carl,

The layout is looking great! very impressive storage roads to!

What sort of scenic break are you going to have either end?

Graham.

Hi Graham.

The tracks will just go through the backscene.

Thanks

Carl

Hi All,

It been a while since the last update, but work has been ongoing. First I have to thank Andy Porter for all his hard work drawing the wiring diagrams for each of the boards on the layout. These have made it easy to track and record each wire.

I’m pleased to say that all of the Dsub connectors for the boards have been completed, these account for 372 wires over 16 connectors. leaving the actual jumpers and the control boards to make.

I have been recording all the pins and using different coloured wires. This will make tracing faults easier. Please excuse my messy handwriting.

Carl,

Well done, progressing very well.

Don't forget as TWY 00 is now retired you have to fill the gap with your little layout.

Cheers.

Paul,

I don’t think I can ever fill that gap, your layout has been an inspiration to many. If I can get mine to a level half as good as your was I will be very happy.

Thanks

Hi all,

its been a little while since I posted an update on how this project is progressing.

All the Dsubs for the boards are wired to the track.  This works out at about 500 connections.  Today i have made 3 of the 15 looms to run from the boards to the control panels.

plans are to have trains running by the by the end of the Summer,  then have a nice long running session to make sure everything runs well before progressing the scenery.

Cheers

Hi all,

A little update on how the layout is coming along.

I have wired all dsubs to the tracks and created all the looms to go to the control panels.  At the moment moment I am waiting for a mate to draw up the control panels for me.

While he he is doing that I am making a start on other things.

first on the list is to redo the C&W building as the layout is being turned and the back of the building which would have been up against the rear back scene is now at the front of the layout so I actually have to put in all the windows that I lazily left off.  Either I can do it with the original building or I will have to completely redo the building.

cheers
