Cornish Triang Paul
Is there a small ready built oo gauge small turntable made by anyone suitable for 0-4-0 / 0-6-0 tank locos ? No more than a Hornby R600 in length. I require a turntable but not the standard 30 cm length type as its too big for layout and requirement. Maybe a wagon TT will do, I believe Faller did one but unsure of length. Does not need to be motorised. Thanks.
Catweasel
Why not make one with a CD? Should be big enough for littl'uns.
garethashenden
Do you really need a turntable? Isn't the point of tank engines that they don't need to be turned?
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted February 19, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2015 Maybe a wagon turntable would do? The SDR uses one to turn small locos http://www.phd-design-etchings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted February 19, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2015 Swanage is a good example of a small turntable used by tank locomotives. A wagon turntable has a deck that covers the whole pit (such as it is). They also tend to have two perpendicular tracks which would look wrong for a loco turntable. I think that perhaps the OP is after a turntable with a bridge. There certainly used to be a small HO one designed for use with roundhouses. Not sure of the make though. Alternatively, use an N-gauge turntable/well (e.g. Peco) and widen the deck and gauge.
Cornish Triang Paul
Thanks all. The n gauge and CD are good ideas which will be looked into. Does not matter if its open or bridge, just the size.
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted February 20, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2015 Do you really need a turntable? Isn't the point of tank engines that they don't need to be turned? Both Yelverton & Princetown had small loco turntables, this was for turning the 0-6-0 tank engines fitted with snow ploughs.
RMweb Gold McRuss Posted February 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 22, 2015 Faller offers a wagon turntable with a track lenght of 90mm. http://www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.17.89/agid.1127.1200.1226/atid.7676/ecm.at/Kleine-Waggondrehscheibe-mit-Servoantrieb.html Markus

Hi Paul Have a look at: http://www.kitwoodhillmodels.com/on30-turntables/ Don't let the narrow gauge aspect put you off - just look at the gauge available. Regards.
