RMweb Gold 2mmMark Posted March 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2015 Looking at the photo, I'd be inclined to make the cab, boiler, front steps and cowcatcher all one self-contained unit. The cylinders would obviously stay on the frames. If the body is going to be metal, and you're using split frames, the steam pipes would need to be insulated. What are the frames? are they bar frames like a lot of American locos? This would determine what spacers you'll need to use. John Ahern's book on loco modelling has a section on American prototypes.
