I think there’s a nice clue that they were working on both the Duchess and matching coaches at the same time, prioritised the loco and now releasing the coaches.

Hopefully the approach follows for 91 and mkIVs...

I also tried to look too much into the GWR carriage next to the LMS one.

In reality, I can’t see Hornby releasing another set of GWR carriages at this stage, as they have only scratched the surface with the Collets.

Although there still remains the possibility of a full brake and restaurant carriages.

They do state that these Coronation carriages are the 1st of three long term projects.....

perhaps wish listing, but at least similarly themed... hopefully including proper silver jubilee coaches and the coronation!

I think there will be a larger market for the Coronation Scot coaches if Hornby

introduce them for the BR era as well. There's two more liveries to be exploited.

At least we will see an open third as part of the range, albeit a specialist one.

An ordinary LMS open third is a glaring omission from the ranges of LMS

stock available in RTR,  I am sure there would be a large market for the  once

numerous TO.

So they're releasing a model of a man holding a stick....

"What do we cry when we see the man with the stick?"

"What's on the end of the stick, Vic?"

I don't know if these are genuine measuring shots or just posed for effect, but in this blog and the previous one,  the measuring stick is measuring from the ground, not rail level. The ground level, of course, is variable. I know it's not much,  but as a matter of principle, all measuring should be from a known datum point,  rail top being the usual one!

That just refers to the announcements from this year.

The 2020 range launch blog shared  the brief development story for each of the projects and states the other 2 were the 91 which was first looked at in May 2016 and the W1 which was first looked at in June 2015.

Not sure you understand the principle of a measuring stick, you don't always have to read measurements from the end.

I was impressed with yesterday's Engine Shed. I feared it might say that we can't bring you much information because of Coronavirus.  Instead it was if anything longer than usual, very full, and bursting with information.

Well done, Hornby and the Engine Shed team!

An interesting read.  Does anyone know what the coach is behind the LMS RFO in the Kidderminster Carriage shed? Wondering if there by coincidence or Hornby efficiently measuring other items at the same time.

Collett Sunshine?

Potentially one of three GWR carriages which include 650, 9653 and 9654 which serve alongside BR Restaurant Buffet W1667 in Set S which does the Severn Valley Limited Service. In this case most like 9653 or it's sister 9654.

I wont get overly excited at this stage, but clearly it would be nice to have some Collet restaurant carriages.

It's just that it is my Southern UK modeling cut off date of December 31, 1947. In my US modeling, it is September 30, 1954.

What a splendid presentation on the Mk 3s! Just what 2020 RTR development needs to consist of, and the transparency of process by demonstrating it here should silence the idiots who seek to rubbish such works.

I hope these sell out.

Definitely- I'd be amazed if we don't see the Coronation Scot vehicles reappear in future catalogues in BR guise. Given that in the blog they mention the rest of the vehicles being done by modifying their existing tooling, with the RFO and kitchen car being all-new, it strikes me that they'd be missing a fairly open goal if they don't adapt the design work for these to tool up the more 'workaday' open coaches in the future as well.

Add to that Stanier Composites and also a brake composite.  The Hornby Stanier Period III stock is quite a limited range sadly.

I hope the LNER version of Hush Hush does'nt end up Black !! Lead Grey with a touch of Black according to Hornby , I think they need to look at the cover of the Hush Hush Book in the text for the actual colour.

Yes and several very thorough LNER modellers and limited edition G1 and O models representations have all settled on the lighter grey after research.
