RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 25, 2021 I'm sure I've read somewhere that Hornby have cancelled two of the originally announced new tooling Mk 4 vehicles?
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted July 30, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 30, 2021 The latest Engine shed is live here https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/p2-or-not-p2-question Despite the opening paragraph stating "engineering samples of the Maunsell Dining Saloons" they appear to have missed being included.

autocoach
Maunsell Dining Saloons? Being just an occasional Southern Railway post war (September 1945-December 31 1947) collector these days, they are one of the few things of interest on the English model horizon these days. If they are meant to be with us in October (according to their site) then could the one in TES actually be a production one? The 91s also look excellent Edited August 27, 2021 by TomScrut

autocoach
The Maunsell Dining Saloons appear to have made this issue. I would doubt they will make it in calendar 2021 if they are in this stage. Otherwise little of interest to serious UK modelers. It appears they have found the right level of customer for their "marketing pro" Montana to address.

So people that model 1990’s upto modern day aren’t serious UK modellers? 4

Funny, the 91 and Azuma are far more interesting to me than anything painted blue, green or with a chimney. I must not be a serious UK modeller then.
RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted September 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2021 Aha! The Mystery boxes! Box One. A selection of scenic items, and Flying Scotsman. Box Two. A selection of railway buildings, and Flying Scotsman. Box Three. A selection of wagons, and Flying Scotsman (painted black ). Box Four. A selection of coaches, and Flying Scotsman. Box Five. Flying Scotsman, with a pantograph fitted to the tender. I think that's about right.....

It’s a cyclical thing as once upon a time BR blue was the new kid on the block! After a certain age everything is dismissed and the rose tinted spectacles are now fully focused on 20:20 hindsight. micklner
Hornby need to sell the A3 footplate as a seperate item. There are lot of "Ski Jump" versions A3's out there that need a new footplate ! 3

RMweb Premium MrTea Posted September 24, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 24, 2021 Not sure what others think but I found this month’s instalment a bit lightweight in terms of content and insight. I definitely preferred Engine Shed when it gave an insight into the development process of the models and focused more on the research side of things. What do other readers think? 1

The chassis block or boiler moulding may may have had minor modifications to suit a metal running plate.

John They aren’t retooling the whole thing. Just the footplate and fitting an LED to the chassis for the firebox
RMweb Premium Flying Pig Posted September 24, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 24, 2021 Well I hope that the diecast footplate eases Hornby's A3 production woes, but I wish they'd fix that terrible representation of the motion bracket which now seems to look even less like the prototype than before.

Brocp
Now if Hornby would give the Princess a metal foot plate I'd be happy. The 3 I own have all got the ski jump front end.
