SparxD428
Etched plates and numbers etc. have arrived for 47500 but I won't be fitting them just yet as I think it may take some time to remove the printed / current transfers and I don't want to rush things. Also a new set of vac plates arrived giving me another renumber option for the future. Otherwise just a few late Summer Saturday 1987 trains run under twilight this evening:- 73137 with a late additional parcels service from Eastleigh to Clapham Junction, diverted via Reading and Kensington Olympia 50021 Rodney crawls through Acton Green on 1V19 19:20 Manchester - Paddington Vac bashers have been disappointed as 47500 is turned out on the down midnight 1C02 23:59 Padd-Penzance Waiting for the last tube "downstairs" at Acton Green Cheers Stu

Iron Horse
Vac bashers have been disappointed as 47500 is turned out on the down midnight 1C02 23:59 Padd-Penzance Cheers Stu I didn't do loads of All-liners but every time I did I never got a vac on the down midnight, OK on the up just never any luck on the down. It's a cracking layout, keep the pics coming please
rob D2
That looks really nice ! Bags of atmosphere . Surprised there are not more WR mainline layouts
SparxD428
Been doing a few minor things on the layout such as closer coupling of the old Lima unit and getting on with final block of flats Mk2. I also shot a video on the work phone - very basic no flashy stuff, and even setup a youtube page to host it (contents = 1 video and not much else). All very basic but thought I would give it a try so hope you can see it below, approx 1 and a half mins around the layout. Havent figured out embedding yet so just have the link below I'll still be posting pics as I find this easier but if the video comes out OK might get my head around editing etc. Cheers Stu

SparxD428
Lovely layout. I was starting to worry there would be no 50's!! That would have been a bit of an own goal to have posted my first video without any 50's on it !! Although to be honest I was just concentrating on not tripping over anything on the floor when filming.

SparxD428
A bit more work on the flats today as well as continuing to construct a mock front of a 1962 Central line train which looks poor when pictured, this is just to add to the cameo of the tube station until something real can be found. Spent an enjoyable early evening running trains, and an even more enjoyable later evening watching Liverpool dismantle City in the first leg though that will probably only rile City for the second leg ! 47593 has been put back in to (noisy) service after receiving some worn but useable donor traction tyres. A few pics, mainly Sulzer tonight Waiting time at Acton Green 47593 back in action rounding the curve from the west Close up and long shots 47402 on a down parcels with 50026 on a short trip parcels bound for Oxford Cheers Stu
SparxD428
Well you may I have noticed I haven't posted much recently. This is largely down to work being completely crazy and long days/weeks at a time away from home , coupled with the weather and my youngest daughter's recently found love for football and all things football that now involves being a season ticket holder down at Reading and going to England home games when funds allow, the layout has pretty much gone on the backburner in terms of both time and funding. But fear not, I have a couple of weeks off coming up and have earmarked some time to tidy up the garage and spend some time in there working out what to do next. I think it will be a slow burn until the dark months come in then I imagine I'll be keen to get back out there. Hope to catch up also with the progress of others layouts on here as well as its nearly 5 months since I actually had a proper look here ! Probably be some new updates soon. SparxD428
Right then, where was I about six months ago with the layout? Same place I am now but good news today is I spent some time becoming reacquainted with operating trains to get back into the groove. Can't say I lost my modelling mojo mainly put it on hold for a bit. I will finish the block of flats and the tube station and then the layout will be complete. So hopefully by Christmas it will be done and then I can turn my attention to just running the layout or another small project if I feel like it. Just a couple of pics tonight of a quiet Sunday with a single mixed freight and the spare vac sat on the depot. I will try and post more updates once I get back into the swing. Cheers, Stu. 33004 parked up on weekend mixed freight 28 sits on shed idling
SparxD428
Heavy duty track cleaning tonight on the scenic section followed by a few trains, biased towards Vac power. A few moving pics taken tonight (aka blurred) to mix things up a bit for once. Trying not to take the same thing a million times but with shape and size of layout not always easy. Lesser Spotted 50004 St Vincent gets a run out tonight on a Padd-Oxford 50029 on a Paddington bound vans waits at the up relief signal before winding its way into the station With the 08 in the shed for attention 33004 is the shunting/standby loco. Going to be digging out the paint and scenics box this weekend and getting on with what needs to be finished Cheers Stu
SparxD428
This afternoon I have actually cut some brickwork and painted what will be the concrete parts of the final block of flats , well the first coat anyway. Got distracted by some trains though. Will hopefully get some more done tonight. My favourite "flat view" location for photo's on the layout is in front of the fuel point at the end of the platforms. 33004 in residence this afternoon 50021 Rodney turned out on an additional to Birmingham running in to platform 3 HST passes through slowly en route to Paddington Not a usual duty for an ETH Duff but 47500 is on the Ripple Lane tanks today Emerging from the ironwork Approaching the station with a 50 waiting to depart in the distance Cheers Stu Cheers Stu

SparxD428
Hi stranger, layout looks great mate, you still coming to Warley? Thanks Ian, Slowly getting back in to it now. Yes I am in for Warley, have the Friday booked off work so plan A is still on. If Tidworth wants to go 1987/88 for an hour or two at Warley I have 9 items I could bring along.... Will speak soon to sort out final plans for the travel up and weekend. Cheers, Stu
SparxD428
More work done on the flats today, just a bit more brickwork and some painting of the concrete balconies. Painted a few more figures as well, toned down with black jackets and trousers instead of garish yellows and lilac's. Am going to make these into a group of bashers/spotters hanging around together near the end of the platform. Gave a few more locos a run out tonight as well as further track cleaning. Some pics.. 37 on the fueller with 45 arriving on an up parcels from Bristol. More pics of 45103 56079 on shed before running light to Pump Lane later to pick up its stone train. SparxD428
A bit of weathering done on the brickwork of the final block of flats today. Interrupted by a few trains and some slices of Acton Green life 47500 back on more familiar services on an up parcels to Paddington. First 2 pics taken from an angle across the layout not really visible unless you have ET's neck. From the more conventional standpoint 50014 Warspite is the standby loco this Sunday Whilst a new group of people, the bashers have appeared on Platforms 2/3. Do they contemplate taking number 20 to Hereford this afternoon? Life on the bridge is still a bit busy What more does this town need? Chippy and the pub are still doing good trade Cheers, Stu
SparxD428
Decided to have an hour or two running some trains tonight after repainting some of the concrete section of the final block of flats. Some different variations and an incident occurred.. A defective coach was removed from a westbound service and laid up in the yard So Old Oak sent something borrowed down with an old GUV as a barrier vehicle ready to collect it later Meanwhile the Brighton - Manchester Piccadilly (via Kensington Olympia) rolled in to platform 3 47500 is being fuelled. Has Acton Green become Brush / Sulzer city ? Luckily Saltley needed to get 31 back to OC so used it to pilot number 4 on the Birmingham - Padd View from the platforms "under the bridge" Meanwhile the Central Line is still quiet. I am hoping to pick up a few bits and pieces at Warley to vary the traffic slightly in the coming months. I will be helping out Ian (Temeraire) as part of the Tidworth on the road crew at Warley so if you are visiting drop by and say hello.
