No Decorum Posted July 22, 2019 Share Posted July 22, 2019 The engine in the 47 has two vertical banks of cylinders driving two crankshafts, the output of which is combined by gearing. The engine in the 48 had a single crankshaft with the cylinders in a V formation. The engines of the 48s were all replaced early on, turning the 48s into 47s.
