Not much happening here at the moment. Just working on some British wagons I purchased s/h at Adelaide.

Here are a couple of scenes on the indoor section of Ralph's layout in Perth.

The 5 wagons I picked up off the s/h stall at Adelaide are now ready for service. A couple more Lima coaches and I will have all the British stock I need.

The sun may have been out Ade, but looks can be deceptive    :>)

However dull days can be so depressing.

Mate came around later and we would normally have gone flying.

The heated sun room and a cuppa won the day.  :>)

Even though it had only reached 7C when I took the photo, with no wind it was quite pleasant for a winters morning.

Well, it was warmer than inside my house :>)

Hi Bob,

Nice shots,  really like that ETS  Class 30 loco.    I had a question for you,  as I'm not too familiar with track standards and ETS.

My Dad is thinking of building a layout using some of the ETS locos,   and I was trying to figure out if the ETS locos will run smoothly

on the Peco code 124 bullhead track & turnouts  ?       It looks as if your ETS 30 is running on the Peco track,  but  how does she do on turnouts ?

Thanks,

Felix

Hi Felix, the ETS locos equipped with the low profile flange, 2-rail wheel option run perfectly through the Peco C124 points that are on my layout.

Although I only have the one loco from them a friend has several and has been using them with C124 track for many years without issue.

Said friend tells me that ETS have sold quite a few of the 30 class to the UK and France !

The driver of 4108 is rather surprised to see a mail consist passing him as he drives a very light trip working assignment back from workshops during the middle of the day. He will find out later if the mail was running very late or if it had been seconded for a daylight working.

So glad I was there to catch the unusual.  :>)

Probably if any particular ACE loco is made by ETS he might be in luck Felix.  I guess ACE would be able to advise.

I just wonder how many extra sales toy market makers like ACE miss out on by not making their models compatible with Peco track

ETS certainly widen their appeal by catering to both the 3-rail toy market track and Finescale.

Said friend has been trying to convince them to make more NSWGR locos but I think ETS realise the market is small and fractured due to the real life gauge differences and as a result only NSW uses 7mm, the rest use 1/4". Not the ideal market to risk further models. The 30 class run was prepaid so not a big risk to add some extra ones to the production run.

Woke up to a warm sunny Sunday morning. Too good to waste indoors.

Spent the day doing minor repairs to the layout and removing the eyesore which was the HO track.

Even managed to get some of the ballasting done.

For a second day the morning services are running late due to the conditions.

The passengers are also without their waiting shed on the up line as it blew away in the wind.

And meanwhile down the hill from me the Sydney/Brisbane line and the highway are cut due to bushfires.

Nice day at last, started on some containers with a little help from a friend with some woodworking power tools.

Now of course, this means I will have to get on with building the wagons to haul them.  :>)

Over the weekend I visited a layout under way.  Some nice work has already been done by the owner.

I was able to give him some assistance but being 6.5 hours drive away I can't visit every day :>)

  • 3 weeks later...

After a fortnight with a persistent cold I have been able to get out and run trains again and continue to work on the new goods shed and station.

They are just being built 'good enough' for outdoor use.

However I am suffering some insanity as I decided to glue individual weatherboards on out of cardboard to the station building.  :>)
