RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 13, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Photos on a dull wet day at Aarau in Switzerland for today. Plus one from Arth Goldau. Arth Goldau 30th July 88 C9805 A Sudostbahn pendelzug (push pull) has just uncoupled from an SBB pendelzug. They had worked together from Luzern to Arth Goldau. From there the SBB set went to Goschenen and the SOB set to Romanshorn. This was to reduce occupation of the single line section for much of the route from Luzern to ArthGoldau. EddieB
Yes, but then I was there four months before you DM (this could go on indefinitely). So here's a picture of a freight drawing in beside those lovely low platforms at Bludenz (March 1989) and my reason for being in Bludenz - the last base for the 1180 class rod-drive electrics (dating from 1926). (Black & white only until I can transfer the Firewire card into a working PC).

EddieB
Don't you just love that orange livery I wonder how many of the 1180s received the orange livery. The one in my 1989 photo was green - with the ÖBB "S" logo and check digit - not a "heritage" repaint, to the best of my knowledge. Quite a few of older (life expired?) electrics appear to have retained their green livery until withdrawal in the late 'eighties/early nineties. Alcanman
Here's an old 1145 electric still in green livery shunting coaching stock at Innsbruck in 1989. These locos were built 1927-31 and only a few remained by 1989. Mal
EddieB
Nice to see that 1145 at Innsbrück - as you say they were quite rare by then (and seem to have been rarely photographed). I have some pictures of the same loco at Landeck, and another classmate at Wörgl from the same year - I think they were the only two I saw in service. By contrast, the similar 1245.0 and 1245.5 classes were still relatively common and, in view of a longer life expectancy perhaps, some had received the orange-red livery. Here's one of the green ones (but black and white again), taken at night at Klagenfurt around the same time. Edit. It appears that one of the 1145 class did receive orange/red livery: http://www.railroadpictures.de/html/archivbaureihe.php?Param=1%7C0%7CA---%D6BB%7C1145%7C0%7C0%7C0 Edited January 17, 2017 by EddieB

RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 20, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2017 The mystery ABe4/4 505, you caught it on film! (The RhB only purchased 4: ABe 4/4 501-504, part of their 1939 "Fliegender Rhätier" concept, which subsequently scuppered a year later, courtesy of a certain Adolf H. ) Thanks for pointing it out. In my slide catalogue I have it down, correctly, as 504 so I don't know why I got it wrong. So here are two, somewhat, late New Year's resolutions. One day I will: 1. Learn to look at the image when I caption it 2. Learn to hit the right key on the keyboard. David
