RMweb Premium Barry O Posted November 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2016 It is very easy to tie yourself up in knots operating the yard and the dock railways. At Southampton the overhead was operated from the theater balcony two levels up (wireless dcc). Baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted November 12, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2016 It would be nice to get the layout to more exhibitions... anyone out there looking for a largish layout for their show??
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 3, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2017 I had a long chat with Steve Hewitt at Warley. I now have a cunning plan to bring the Overhead railway colour signals to life.... just need some time and a few lengths of fibre optic.. which I know I have .. just where?? This won't be done before the next trip out... Baz
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted January 3, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2017 Layout all back in position and running, with the help of half the family on New Year's eve it was shifted across with the overhead in place. We've got four months now to test it and the stock properly.

Steamport Southport
Just as long as your family aren't two brothers with moustaches and mullets. "To me", "To you!". I mean the Chuckle Brothers to those that don't remember the two children's TV characters. Jason
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted February 15, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 15, 2017 With Herculaneum Dock up and running in the shed, I've filled in the last gap in the 1955 MDHB loco fleet. We already have both the Hunslet diesels, the remaining Barclay fireless and large Avonside, some Hunslet 15" and small Avonsides. In addition to the fleet of 15in Hunslets acquired after the demise of Avonside MDHB bought two of the slightly smaller 14in type. This one will be painted lined green and numbered 14, the other one was 13 but I can't find any photos of it and in any case that number is in use for one of the LOR sets. The 14in has a lot of parts in common with the 15in, mouldings (apart from the firebox back) are all from our 15in kit. We will make this available as a kit in due course.

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 15, 2017 what a little beauty! Very envious.. but an added loco to create havoc under the umbrella! baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 16, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2017 Will we have number 14 at the Liverpool Show? And, of course, one of the overhead cars could be reprogrammed.... Just a thought like.... Hat, coat, scarf, gloves.......gone!
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted February 16, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2017 Can't do that, we have to use the number on the north end of the set (otherwise we can't see what they are when parked in Herculaneum car shed) and they were never turned round, there was nowhere to do this anyway. The other end is 3 and I didn't want to use this one for obvious reasons. 14 should be available for Liverpool, I'll get it painted now the weather is warming up a bit.
Michael Delamar
Another shot of no 13.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted February 20, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks Mike, same livery as 14 which is now in the paint shop. This one was steam heat fitted as well so would have been useful for the bananas - but we still can't use it.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 20, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2017 test running has produced a couple (or 4) repairs to 2 coaches and 2 locos....mind you the big test comes with the wagons! Baz
Michael Delamar
Ive still got my Avonside B2 number one to finish in plain black which is a converted Agenoria B3. The painter who painted and lined my green locos has passed away now sadly, so ill be looking for someone to paint the letters or get transfers if you know of any Mike? Still trying to find a way to model those chimney spark arrestors also.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted February 21, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 21, 2017 I used some modifies Fox transfers for the last MDHB loco I painted but I think I'm going to give this one Dave Studley to line and letter, he painted all the LOR stock for me.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 21, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 21, 2017 Perhaps someone could get some transfers made for the MD&HB? Baz

Stanley Melrose
Why no full stop after the "D"? Just wondering . . . Stan Shot of 14.IMG_2763.PNG
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted February 28, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 28, 2017 I didn't notice that, there should be one - and there wasn't one after the D on the other side either.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 5, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2017 Time to remember/invent how to operate the layout before Liverpool Show. Hopefully all will go well. Baz
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted March 5, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2017 Why no full stop after the "D"? Just wondering . . . Stan Because "Docks and Harbour" are part of a continuing sentence? We need Tony Wright to officialise! Mike.
