RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted April 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 29, 2015 What era are these suitable for? 1950s too early?
Talltim
Mermaids were a GWR invention and were built over a period of 30 years. I'm not sure of the detail differences, but providing you get the right one, certainly suitable for your period http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brmermaid BTW the Flangeway Mermaids are here
RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted April 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 29, 2015 Thanks Tim, just trying to establish the date spread of the current batch, only one finger of wrong hand available for typing.
Talltim
DB989001, DB989010, DB989023 and DB989037 and DB989071 seem to be part of lot 2353 built 1954, which was unfitted, however all the models appear to be VB which was a later (70's?) conversion for some of them. Not sure about DB989914, the photos on Paul's site don't go up to nearly that range. Also not sure on the dates for introduction of the black and olive paint schemes, IIRC black was earlier Isn't it annoying when you have lots of enforced free time, but you can't do any modelling! Edit: the olive green was introduced '67 so is much too late for you http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/gansg/6-livy/br/9-br-dept.htm Edit 2: according to this page, DB989914 isn't a valid number for any type of wagon, not just Mermaids. Dunno if it is a typo, the Footplate site has the same photo of DB989037 for all three black Mermaids, possibly should be DB989014?
RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted April 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 29, 2015 Cheers Tim, yes it's very frustrating but then temptation comes along with opportunities to cheer yourself up...
SM42
Edit 2: according to this page, DB989914 isn't a valid number for any type of wagon, not just Mermaids. Dunno if it is a typo, the Footplate site has the same photo of DB989037 for all three black Mermaids, possibly should be DB989014? It's a typo. On the model the number is DB989014, but on the box label DB989914. Andy
