Neil Watson
Don't know about the Aviemore stops but as part of their war time upgrades in the North a lot of HR stops were replaced by LMS ones. Here is one at Thurso. cobble and trailer.jpg Thankyou Ben it is hard to find any clear photos of the stops at Aviemore back in the late 50’s etc so I am looking at doing a mixture if I can get the stops to look right. Neil Watson
Well here is my first go at making some very fine highland buffer stops but of a way to go to improve these. They are also very fiddly to make. Hopefully this looks better than the peco ones.
Neil Watson
Whilst having a wee break from work and sorting out little details I thought I would make a start on the little project that I bought two years ago. I have a long way to go yet and the hardest thing so far is making this when there are no instructions that come with the kit. Hopefully I can do this justice as I have always wanted an n gauge one of these. I wonder if anyone can quest what it will become.
RMweb Gold McRuss Posted January 24, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 24, 2019 Hello Neil, I think you're building a Worsley Works Caledonian Railway Jumbo kit. What chassis are you intending to use? Markus
Neil Watson
Hello Neil, I think you're building a Worsley Works Caledonian Railway Jumbo kit. What chassis are you intending to use? Markus Hello Markus You are correct I have been measuring up a j39 chassis and tender to see if they would fit as they are not far off. Any suggestions before I go to far? Have you had a go at one of these?
Neil Watson
Well a very productive few days I have managed to get the other boards together again whilst I have some room. The road has been re filled as the other looked terrible and i am just waiting for the paint to dry before adding hedgerows. I have finally got the last signal in and looking at fitting two motors underneath to get this working. I have also added a bit more vegetation to make it look better as some spaces looked a little sparse and fitted the curtain for its exhibition. Hope you like the latest photos
lmsforever
You have captured the area very well its starting to come together looking forward to more updates.
RMweb Gold McRuss Posted January 25, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2019 Hello Neil, I owned one kit of the jumbo myself, but due to two housemoves it got lost. I have never started with the building. So I will be interested to see your results. Markus
Neil Watson
Some coaches that I completed a while ago ready for a short rake. Still a little tidying up to do
Neil Watson
Well today I visited Aviemore to see for the last time the semaphore signals that have stood the test of time to see they are finally being replaced with some horrible colour lights. I knows it’s progress but It is a shame to ruin such a nice station with these. I also spent a little time at Dalwhinnie this afternoon to see some action whilst out with the dogs. Maybe a new layout to think about.
Neil Watson
well Aviemore went up for its last time before its first exhibition in may. Ordered the lighting rig and put up the curtain along the front. I just need to cut down the two end backscenes and then that’s done also. Really pleased with the running with no problems at all from the start. The turntable even managed the move to the new extension and worked great. 10
RMweb Premium carlwooduk Posted March 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 14, 2019 Neil, this has come together brilliantly. Love the last photo, i had not realised just how complex the trackwork was. Good job you are DCC. What exhibitions have you signed up to?
Neil Watson
Morning Carl The trackwork was rather complicated back then and I have still had to miss some out. I am glad I have captured the ambiance with the semephore's as they are in the process of being removed completely. I have a little interest so far from people seeing it on the forums which I will actively be arranging for next year onwards.

Neil Watson
Thought I would spend a little time checking over the layout before the exhibition in two weeks to find one flipping point has decided to not work. Problem is getting it out now after checking all the problems it could be, good job I have spares. Anyway it has given me time to have a little test of the four new additions which have been kindly worked on by Ian at Mercig. Here is one of them and a usual visitor that I took before and never posted it on here.
