Evening all

not too much to report as of late as ropley has taken a back burner due to other commitments

this weekend will see the extension for ropley starting to come together.

Ropley is exending beyond the road bridge to show off all the locos awaiting or under restoration up the headshunt. it will also enable us to more operations on the line adding more interest to the yard as it doesn't see a massive amount of use at the moment.

3 new additions are hopefully on the way 1 being usa dock tank 70075 second being pitchford hall a gala guest to go with city of turo and earl of Berkley and a third being 50027 lion who is on order.

hopefully for its next show will see 30828 completed and possibly 30506 too!

another loco hopefully going to be built quickly will be 31806 in restoration appearance as well as 76017 who I cant get the guts to do the lining on prior to making it a loco awaiting boiler removal.

photos will appear of all this work later in the week but for the mean time here are a few taken not too long ago

Hi Chris

How did the weekend go, unfortunately I didn't have time to get there but looked like a good show?

I've finally been getting on with the project I promised you!

It's pretty much finished apart from a light weathering as it was fairly clean when it arrived in 2012.

Ian lion looks great just got to re build the bridge where she normally sits when she is no t in use

This is a really excellent layout! The dioramas of the locos waiting rebuild are fantastic.

May I ask, how you do the drop sheets?

Drop sheets are either masking tape or an old blue market bag weathered down

Just found this layout thread. I have never visited this line, but I really feel you have captured the preservation scene very well. I love all the restoration detail including the inside shed details. I look forward to seeing more progress.

Recently latest ramblings have focused on Ropley's extension to include the headshunt. in order for this to happen my main focus has been creating the many locos living in the siding awaiting there turn for overhaul although as the pictures show some locos are already undergoing restoration minus parts etc post-14552-0-17804900-1496747863_thumb.jpgpost-14552-0-99984200-1496747839_thumb.jpgpost-14552-0-95216800-1496747876_thumb.jpgpost-14552-0-11581300-1496747899_thumb.jpg

Ropley head shunt is now finally taking shape just the other embankment to go then trees to add I have even added all the clutter on the railway lines looking good if I do say so myself. What colours do people use on the rails as I would like to make them look realistic.

Work has been done on the head shunt line ready for finishing off, just rail painting left. 33208 (to be) poses at the front of the lineup of locos awaiting attention. It looks like there has been a few locos moved out judging by how far down the siding this photo has been taken. Work will now start on the running line adding details and making it look more authentic. the front hillside will recieve some more scenic detail too.

Afternoon all

It’s been a while since we last posted Some updates. Ropley is still undergoing its re wire so not many photos in that area. However with boards more accessible I have made a start on completing the internals for the carriage shed. As can be seen from the photos the buildings in the carriage shop are progressing well with just clutter required to finish them plus a bit of paint. With the carriage shed going well the opportunity has come to do the boiler shop alongside this project. The floors will get a revamp before all is secured as it looks a bit tatty from chipping. It will also receive the lining too and the boiler shop floor or will return to the correct colour. The last photo shows the two james’ under the bridge in the headshunt. The bridge will be the next project to make board4 complete before joining to the headshunt.
