BR Class 02 numbering

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

For a start in O gauge I've decided to model the BR Class 02 from the "Tower Collection".

Only three of the class survived into the TOPS numbering system: 02 001, 02 003 & 02 004.

However when looking for reference photos they only show the 02 in BR Green livery and the only photos of them in BR blue are either models or from computer simulators. All the pictures I've seen have either the number above the "Double arrows" or below such as,

So where the numbers above.... or below?? or both??

Thanks

I took a poor instamatic photo of 02003 and 02004 at Allerton after withdrawal, in June 1975

both were still green, and neither had cabside double arrows,

cheers

Not a very good photo, it was taken on an instamatic, and printed on lustre paper,

however it shows 02003 and 02004 at Allerton after withdrawal, which I think was 1st June 1975

Hi Northern1995. I'm also building a Tower class 02. You will see progress in the RMweb kitbuilding challenge section.

lovely little loco's these 02003 did indeed get BR blue livery but for Bescot depot open day I'm afraid.
I built a DJH 00 Guage kit many years ago based on a couple of excellent photos in the old OPC postcard series (took an age to get them all)
which show them in tatty weather beaten BR Green with TOPS numbers and O/H signs only with no Emblems/Totems.
hope fully this should link to Pics of my model before numbering  and wasp stripe transfers being fitted

If you need  them I could send you a photo of the postcards Via PM as the Copywright is most likely still with OPC so will not be able to post them up on this thread.

Cheers Trailrage
