End of the spur, is no more

Recommended Posts

Ray, I've been following your progress photos on Facebook, and the layout is looking truly outstanding.

It's totally different to 59th and Rust, and is together they form a great picture of the range of your modelling skills.

If you need an operator for any shows I can make it to, feel free to give me a poke!

I think that's my usual order at my local Chinese Take-away.... :jester:

Speed-matching is one thing (amongst many!) I've not mastered at all with DCC. Lists like the above do show (to me) what a faff it seems, & such things as 'speed curve graphs' make me shudder!! - whereas at one time on old analogue 12vDC I knew that at least any of my Atlas locos could lash up with each other, just so long as the China-drive ones had been re-wired in series.

....ah, such innocent, carefree days... ;)

Still do that now! Most interesting match is the Atlas HH1000 and Bachmann S4. That works very well.

Try these Gene

CV 2=1,3=60,4=25,209=70,210=6,212=200

Both my S2's ran different, had to play with cv 209,210 to match them, hope these help

Ray

Ray...finally home...reprogrammed both locos to these values and they both run much better....one is a bit faster than the other at speed-step1.... Any tips on how to get them closer together speedwise....I assume some change to CVs 209,210 but have no clue what they control or which way to go.

Cheers

Gene

  • 1 month later...

Been a quiet 4-5 months on the modelling front, and as it's getting near the layouts debut at Barrow, thought it was time to get on with the car card & waybills

post-13979-0-23949400-1472074523_thumb.jpg

car cards will be printed on to stiff-ish coloured card( different colour for different car types) with a pocket folded at the bottom

post-13979-0-95475500-1472074529_thumb.jpg

Waybills will be 4 cycle, printed on white card

post-13979-0-84181600-1472074749_thumb.jpg

Mini photos of each car will be glued to the front of the pockets on the car card(for those who don't know a box car from a reefer)

Now I've just got to get some coloured card and get my head around how it will work!!!

on a roll, all waybills done, all tests done to see if they fit in there pockets

post-13979-0-68784900-1472494827_thumb.jpg

in coming cars are placed on the front of the layout

post-13979-0-19071300-1472494838_thumb.jpg

once each car is spotted, the car card is moved to the set out pocket

post-13979-0-54133500-1472494850_thumb.jpg

cars are held in place with a magnet under each number and a small washer taped to the back of all the car cards (will see how this goes under exhibition conditions)

well all there's to do now is to play trains to see if it works!!

Ray

p.s those CNJ box cars are nothing to do with this layout!!

After extensive testing of the car cards it seems to work ok,( couple of tweaks to do),then looking at my ply that's been acclimatizing, my mind started to wander, but nothing failed to materialize and ended up playing trains.
