  2. The JST connector details have been posted on this and other forums several times, so go look, noting that the power bank uses a 3-pin plug with only 2-wires used. The plug and pin bits are readily available, but you need to be very dextrous to assemble them. You can pay a factory to assemble these at some cost. I had a quote at around £2 each for supply in hundreds. Note also that any alien stay alive whether shop bought or diy needs charging components to work with the 7K decoders. The Lias one carpet-boy used is listed as having these. His 2-3 second run on for the motor is about average for the type, so not as amazing as he declared it to be. edit - his 8-pin decoder has the C+/C- pads to solder to but not all variants have these - look at the decoder manual where each variant is shown from both sides.
  3. It’s moved down the yard now to where the green 47 has been sat for the last month or so
  4. For those interested in a kit built Siphon H. Not mine. Thought it looked well built and finished and may be of interest. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355649404098?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jsssom8wq4s&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=MNMqJGNPSxi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Does anyone know of the origins of the kit producer? Cheers, Mark
  5. So, I’ve just clicked on an announcement, about an announcement, about an announcement… 😵‍💫 RT
  6. Jonathan. I think I have seen that picture before. Fascinating. I wonder how far down the colliery it was; was it dug out especially so she could stand up? I have a POW sides Black Park Colliery, Ruabon, and there could be a second. I do like the look of yours, well done, Was the Coal and Coke Co. a Factor, merchant or colliery?
  7. Looking forward to these arriving. Has anyone seen a working pre-production sample yet?
  8. The point that allows trains to access the route to Lofthouse can now be operated remotely from the main panel. Here a quarry train waits as the Harrogate auto train departs.
  9. That's the problem, a lot of invasive pests have been brought in deliberately to 'solve' another problem and end up being worse than the original problem - although this isn't true of Fire Ants, they've sneaked in on containers, apparently. I'd rather the snakes, because most of the worst, are safely up in Queensland! The European Wasps are another nasty one, I was stung multiple times a few years ago and they are spreading too. Invasive too and their biggest problem, is that they can sting multiple times each, unlike natives and bees.
  10. A Dapol 121 and 122 for £89.50 at Rails of Sheffield: https://railsofsheffield.com/blogs/news/Dapol-oo-gauge-dmu-flash-sale
  11. Well Tesla have doubled down and made the gear selector a slide control on the touchscreen in the Cybertruck.
  12. James, Thank you. I did know about this, and in fact this is how I know I have the size of Mr Price's house correct as the side I am not modelling, in the recent past has put in a planning application for a balcony. (I think it is more to have doors open to let in the sea air than to sit and watch cars in the car park.) This is a good reminder as there are buildings I need to know the exact sizes of, or rather it would be better than doing it from my photos and measurements. (Criccieth Chapel for instance.)
  13. Thank you Simon. I agree getting what’s there wired up, test run etc is best way to go. Space is also as issue as I have other projects on the go at home and the layout will eventually have to return there. Thank you for the photo. Its a great location.
  14. I massively need a t-shirt with that label on it! Jo
  15. Unfortunately the BBC seems to have gone rather tabloid in its headlines these days.
  16. I don’t navigate by satnav, and my post was meant to illustrate that OTHER drivers could be distracted by digital display's. The wife will use satnav but generally I plan long distance journeys in advance and commit the route to memory. Plus, having been a Boy Scout, I have a good sense of direction anyway!

  18. Not sure how many wagons have had this “special product” label added but something else to add variation into a rake 🙂
  19. A tip I got from a very talented member is to use enamel black wash as a starting point for weathering. Slosh it all over the wagon, leave it overnight then remove about 90% of the wash with Q tips and white spirit. This will highlight the crevices. John
  20. Shaun, Thank you. I think it appears big next to the Airfix Inn, but it is also larger than 'Sportsman's Cottage' which in real life is larger than the cottages next to it. This is the prototype of Sportsman's and yes, that green next to it covers a cottage. Mr Price is a local and has Welsh as his first language so I think he would have no problems with the older locals. As for the contractor, he just needs an interpreter, full stop.
  21. They have the same coloured blue school uniform that I had back in primary school . No ones parents picked us up back in those days, you walked, or you got the bus. It'd be schoolyard death by endless mockery if your parents came and picked you up, (unless you were sick).
  22. Following this thread with interest and getting lots of useful information from @MAP66 regarding the use of a helix. Looking forward to seeing how this layout progresses.
  23. Sorry I'm at work without a screen recorder, but this should make it clear enough the intersect method: Start with the side profile: Then add a top view: Extrude one of the profiles: Then the other using the intersect option from the operation drop down: et voila
  24. 😄Hand of God I'm afraid, or maybe a sister boat. It occurred to me I'd never taken a photo of the narrow boat from the bow end. Problem is it looks as if the boat ran empty both ways. So I probably need to add a removable load, if I'm going to pose it heading in different directions Best Wishes Clive
  25. Hi and apologies for being late to comment on backscenes. Hopefully my recent exploits may help others. I've used 3.6 mm plywood on the straight sections of my backscene, which are 7" tall. Because I want to remove them to access the FY and make sure they remain straight I've put framing behind them. @stivesnick suggested a way of securing the backscene using small connector blocks which was really helpful. 🙂 To make sure they don't scuff and break up where they butt up to each other I'm planning to seal the edges with PVA. I'm going to use 2 coats of Gesso to prepare them for acrylic painting. Where the backscenes curve there was too much tension in the plywood so I've used mount board with two layers laminated together using Copydex. This was a lot easier to use than plywood! Again I'll probably seal the edges with PVA to reduce wear and tear. All the best. Andy
