18+ layouts with trade support and active demonstrations. The venue has free on site parking for
nearly 100 vehicles. There will be operating on both days a free vintage bus service. The on site café
will be serving a selection of sandwiches, cakes, snacks etc.. along with tea, coffee and cold drinks.
Doors open 10.00 both days.

Railway Children DayRailway Children Day at Barnwell
Celebrating the 50thanniversary of Lionel Jeffries’ movie based on E.Nesbit’s classic children’s novel. The centre-piece will be Chris Leigh’s ‘O’ gauge layout The Railway Children depicting Oakworth as it appears in the movie. Previously exhibited only at Barrow Hill Chesterfield, and Butlin’s Skegness, several years ago, this will likely be the last public appearance of the layout. It is being refurbished and enhanced for this one appearance. Supporting layouts will include:
Bevet(P4) by Dave Lowery, Simply Narrow Gauge(On16.5) by the late Keith Willows, Operation Abyss(OO) by James Styles of the Little Layout Company, Polwyddelan (OO) by Chris Leigh, Marsh Chipping(N) by Dave Westwood, and a Gauge 1 display by Fenland group (outdoors, weather permitting). There will also be a display of Wisbech & Upwell(OO) modules by Chris Leigh, Peter Marriott and Chris Nevard, a display of buildings by the late Allan Downes (one or two of which will be available for sale) and a sale of used models, kits, and bits from Chris Leigh’s workshop. Refreshments will be available.
I’m planning for a small, good quality, intimate show for railway modellers, with entertainment for the kids, too, and our Rector has even agreed to dress up as Mrs. Waterbury and read from a first edition of E.Nesbit’s book!
Any profits from the show will go to our 13thcentury church, St. Andrew’s, Barnwell.

Venue:The Village Hall, Barnwell, PE8 5QD (rear of Montagu Arms pub). Ample car parking adjacent.
Barnwell is just off the A605, two miles south of Oundle, Northants.

Harrogate Model Railway Group annual model railway exhibition
Harrogate Model Railway Group is hosting its annual exhibition at a new location, Gracious Street Methodist Church, Chapel Street, Knaresborough HG5 8AN
The new venue is located in the centre of Knaresborough, a tourist attraction in its own right. There is easy access to public transport and public car parking. The venue offers full disabled access and a cafeteria. The venue is about a five minute walk from the local bus station, served by a number of bus routes, and Knaresborough railway station, served by Northern Rail, is about a 15 minute walk from the venue. Taxis are also available.
Why not make a day of your visit? Take in the local tourist attractions, such as the castle, or River Nidd boating, along with a visit to our exhibition?

Weston-Super-Mare Model Railway Show 2026
Great mix of layouts and trade,
....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking...... why oh why!
The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.

SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SHOW -JANUARY 24TH/25TH 2026
Despite South West Trains' best efforts I managed to get to the exhibition on time. I had my doubts when they announced at Southampton Central Station that my train would be running non stop to Waterloo but I got on a Cross Country train that stopped at Southampton Airport. The pictures show:
1. My arrival at the exhibition on a heritage bus provided by the organisers.
2. There were a lot of people at the exhibition and a huge queue for the coffee machines. There seemed to be more people there than in previous years.
3. Essence of Ventnor in 0 gauge was one of the splendid layouts there. I saw it last year at the Brockenhurst exhibition.
4. Seaton Junction in 00 gauge was another interesting layout. There was an N gauge model of Seaton Junction at Pecorama that it donated to our model railway club so I found it interesting to see Seaton Junction in a larger scale.
I was not so lucky with my return journey as South West Trains was unable to run any trains from Southampton Central to Bournemouth and Weymouth so I ended up having to catch a taxi to Bournemouth.
