Model railway exhibitions have been held at various venues in Romiley for nearly forty years, all in aid of children’s charities. For the last 20 years the exhibition has been held in Romiley Methodist Church. This year is the club’s 27^th Exhibition.Romiley Methodist Railway Modellers was established in 1997 to put the previously ad hoc arrangements onto a formal footing. Club membership is open to those of all faiths and of none. The annual show is a joint venture between the Church and RMRM, with all the proceeds going to Action for Children (formerly known as ‘NCH’, and before that as the ‘National Children’s Home’). In recent years we’ve managed to raise over £1,000. Unlike many club shows, RMRM makes no financial gain from the show. Indeed, it subsidises it.

Over the last decade, the show has taken on its own distinctive character. It is now firmly family-orientated, with many drive-it-yourself layouts and other inter-active features, as well as the traditional don’t touch, fully-scenic dioramas. Will visitors please note to kindly leave the on-site for those with limited mobility, there are large car-parks some 500m from the venue and Romiley Train Station and bus stops are only 400m away.

External layouts exhibiting include:- N Gauge “Enngage” (Rainhill MRC), 0 Gauge “Scola Green” (Morecambe and Heysham MRC), 00 “Leeds Weeklyn Hill’ (E Farms), 16mm “Fflugen Station FR Layout’ (C Mckenzie), WW2 theme war-gaming (East Lancashire Historical Games) plus many other RMM club layouts.
