    Size: 2ft by 6 inches

    Gauge: OO, 1:76

    Era: 9 onwards

Grosmont MPD is a recreation of part of the MPD at Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. It consists of three tracks, two which are operational and one that is a display track.

Work on the layout started on 19/01/22 and has been progressing since then.

    Construction:

The baseboard is made of wood as are the backscene boards. The backscene boards are screwed on to the back of the layout. I countersunk the holes before drilling the screws in. All the track on the layout is made by Hornby. On Grosmont MPD, the ground is covered in ash and coal deposited from the steam locomotives so to recreate this, I used DAS clay which was then painted black.

    Scenery:

For the backscene, I used Gaugemaster's sky backscene. The JCB Loadall is from Oxford Diecast. The real MPD has one and when I saw the model, I knew I needed it. The JCB Loadall is mainly used around the shed and coal tower area, however, I have parked it on the rear siding and made sure it's clear of the running lines.

    Rolling Stock:

All the rolling stock is made by Hornby, Bachmann and Dapol. I tend to use the more modern rolling stock from Hornby as the new couplings match with Bachmann's and Dapol's and is better than the old, obtrusive ex-Lima tension locks. Although some stock with these couplings appears on the layout.

All the locomotives will be models of the locomotives that are currently preserved on the NYMR. Some locomotives that have visited the railway in the past at events such as galas will be included as well.

The following list is what I currently have:

Visiting B1 4-6-0 1306 Mayflower (masquerading as 1189 Sir William Gray)

LNER six wheel teak No. 4172

    NYMR 12T ventilated van

NYMR 12T 7 plank open wagon

There is still a bit to do on the layout but progress on Grosmont MPD can be viewed here:
