  • Bayern Neustadt is an HO layout measuring 16' x 4'10.
It has been exhibited since 2013 at a number of specilaised Marklin shows as well as general exhibitions including Perth, Abingdon, Lincoln and Spalding.

This is a freelance model based loosely on the operation of Deutsche Bundesbahn between 1958 and 1999.

There are steam, diesel and electric operations with occasional visitors from other countries. All locos are pre 2000, when Märklin decided to concentrate on their digital system.

All track work and catenary is stock Märklin and is based on their M track. This is a raised metal bed with stud contact for the provision of the power to the engines. The track was made during 1955 to 2000. Previous versions of the track before 1955 were made with a solid 3rd rail and were very similar to the Hornby Dublo track, in fact the two track systems are compatible.
In 2000 the M track was replaced with a similar track but now made of plastic (C track).
Also available for more permanent fixings is a track system without a bed and is similar to what may be seen as normal track (K track).

The power, which is AC, is also supplied to the catenary, so individual circuits are obtained by using two controllers per track. By using AC power there are less issues in the wiring, such a reverse loops are not an issue at all.

As presented, this allows 6 trains running over the 3 parallel circuits.
