Strange thing. After breaking my J94, I browsed ebay to see if i could get spares for my Mech Navvies. I didn't hold up hope. But i found one, in fact the seller had ten, each at £59. Plus another NCB J94, with ten available of this type too. The seller is in Liverpool.

We are beginning to see DJM models 2nd hand and some are still on sale as new stock.

How reliable are these models? The follow up question is are replacement fittings for the things likely to fail, such as motors, available because they were standard components still available from 3rd parties, or were they bespoke designs to DJM therefore any future failure will require a chassis rebuild?

I am tempted by an O2 to go with Kernow's LSWR gate stock as they ran locally, although the branch closed well before I moved here, but I don't want to buy something that will be a b****r to fix in the event of motor problems.

Thought it best to start a separate thread on experiences of reclaiming (if it’s possible) against any deposits paid. This thread is specifically relating to reclaiming against a credit card. Perhaps someone would start a PayPal thread (or other payment methods) if necessary and keep this one for CC.

I paid my deposit for the DJM Class 92 via my Lloyds AMEX credit card in Feb 2017.

I rang my credit card company this afternoon to claim a refund of the £30 deposit. Reason I started a reclaim is based on today’s notification at Companies House of a new registered address for DJM for a business being a ‘licensed insolvency practitioner and business recovery specialists’. *

(*In case anyone says I’m jumping the gun, in the UK Building Contracts I use (JCT Form of Contract), if a contractor has commenced discussion on insolvency, “appoints an administrator receiver, receiver or manager of his property, has passed a resolution for voluntary winding-up without declaration of solvency,,…. otherwise entering administration within the meaning of Schedule B1 of the Insolvency Act 1986, …. entering into an arrangement, compromise, composition in satisfaction of his debts (unless reconstruction)…..” whether it is concluded or not, the contract is terminated as the person is deemed insolvent within the terms of the building contract. This may not be applicable in cases outside the building industry, but it justifies my approach to the bank to seek a refund of my DJM deposit).

Initial response from the bank was that I was outside a 120 day claim period and I should contact Citizen’s Advice.

I stated that (1) I was not aware that there was a time limitation on making a claim and (2) I was only aware today that the supplier was in contact with a liquidator, so under the Limitations Act the commencement of any limitation begins today.

CC company’s response was, because I only paid £30, it wasn't covered under Section 75.

I pointed out that this too isn’t correct, that I am covered under Section 75 for any amount paid as long as the total amount to be paid for the goods is over £100. It's the total value of the product that is key, not how much I have paid. (up to max £30K I think, but not relevant here).

CC company then acknowledged that I am correct, I would be covered under Section 75, and have therefore sent my claim to their claim’s department. I will get a response in 7 – 10 days.

I was surprised and disappointed that the CC company’s first two attempts were to rebuff me, as this should be basic knowledge for the CC company. So please be aware that the CC company may try to avoid any claims.

Will keep you posted on progress.

There has been much discussion on the DJmodels statement of affairs thread regarding trying to get a handle on how much crowdfunders paid over in total. I suggested the crowdfunders say on RMweb how much they paid and it was suggested that I start a separate thread, so here it is.

This thread is for data only so please no discussion. All discussion can be on the Statement of affairs thread.

This is purely voluntary and since not everyone will want to post on this thread, or even know about it, the figures will probably be understated but it would give an idea how much at a minimum crowdfunders total should be in tne statement of affairs.

I'll start it off in the next post.

Or if you are happy with spreadsheet it would help if you added your payment there.

Well the statement of affairs is out and not pretty, only £4801 available to creditors..... Which includes hattons and a loan company.... And that's before the administrators are paid.

Id say the fact he had a 30k loan on top of a 50k from dave jones input indicates theres been a problem for a very long time.......especially since most of the buisness should have been sustained on crowd funding input and sales from the successfully produced models.....

So I recently decided to run my GWR autotank on DCC without a chip in it, as I got impatient waiting for a chip to arrive (dumb move, I'm aware - even more so now). Because of this, I think I've blown the motor - it starts to spin but then slowly dies out and shorts out the DCC system (it has a chip in now).

So I was just wanting to ask is this definitely the motor blown? And where could I get a new one from?

I know there's the option of the highline chassis, but I don't want to commit to that unless I've exhausted the new motor route.

	Cheers

With the success of the class 71 crowdfunding (by the way, to aid those that are undecided i am extending the crowdfunding cut off date for 3 months to allow for pictures of the model to circulate among you, the press, and on my website and forums), work has now begun on the class 74 electro-diesel locomotive in OO gauge.

This will also be crowd funded, but to a lesser extent than the 71 due to slides being put into the tooling to allow for the tool to be 'future proof' and aid the class 74 development.

Crowd sourcers for the class 71 will, due to their faith in the project that is now coming to fruition, get the chance to crowd source the class 74 at a lower price, whereas those that didn't contribute to the crowd sourced the 71 pay a higher price.

However the higher price is still under what the modeler will pay when they reach stockists about 6 months after release to crowd sourcers.

I really must make a comment here of what happened in the last 24 hours.

A friend of mine had bought a J94 many months, if not a year, ago. It ran happily on his layout using a GM dc controller ( as it should). Last Wednesday he took it to another layout with Kentrol controllers. It ran for a little while, then stopped dead. The instructions which came with the loco says not to use feedback control.

I discovered this info when he brought me the loco to sort out. After all the checks I could think of, I stripped it down to examine the motor. Definitely dead!!

On the phone to Peters Spares, who don't hold any DJM spares, but directed me to speak to Dave direct. This I did, we had a nice chat, but he doesn't have spares either! He passed on all his spares to Digitrains. Soooo, a call to them, puchased a new motor with DCC chip/ blank plate already wired, which I received in less than 24 hours, reassembled the loco. Job's a good'un.

Excellent service all round I'd say, but there's a moral here folks. Kentrol controllers are very good and a shame they are not being made again after the problems they had. They are Feedback controllers and my friend now knows, "if in doubt"read and apply the instructions!

So there we are, a cautionary tale dear modellers. Enjoy the hobby.

	Hi everyone.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to what is currently available versus what is currently in development. I'm not asking for a friend it's just a lot of these posts originated in 2017. I'm new to the site not the hobby so forgive my perceived ignorance.

Hi everyone,

As promised here's the APT update. sorry it''s late.

ICONIC??.....................You Bet!!!

DJModels Ltd and Durham Trains of Stanley are proud to announce a NEW and exciting crowdfunding venture for the ‘Holy Grail’ of modern era N gauge models ……….. The APT!

This model will be made by the worlds most successful RTR Model Railway Crowdfunder, DJModels Ltd, with exclusive help from Crewe Heritage Railway Centre, who have allowed us Exclusive rights to measure, laser scan, and photograph their APT train, the last one in the world.

The models basic design work has started and as such we already know what we will strive to feature on this train, and it will be available in 5,6,7,10 and 14 car sets all with authentic paint and interior finishes including decalled depiction of Red and Blue tartan seat finishes for first and second class.

Tilt will also be possible we believe and will work to a maximum of 5-10 degrees and be damped to avoid coach wobble. We hope to include internal carriage lighting as well that uses a capacitor to keep lighting alive in the train when operating on DC and stopped for a short period of time!

The train will have provision for a single Next18 decoder and also be fully sound compatible.

Directional lighting as standard, no gap close coupling and electrical transfer.

Lifting nose with NEM pocket behind for ‘dragging’

Auto levelling pantograph mechanism for when tilting. (Final specifications to be confirmed)

Crowdfunding orders for this project will be via the Durham Trains of Stanley web site from Saturday 25th November. It will remain open for 6 months or close before this date if the required sign ups are reached.

Please note, monies are not required until the threshold is reached and only then a deposit will be needed.

Once the threshold is reached each customer will be invited to a scanning party exclusive to crowdfunders at Crewe Heritage Centre where you will get to see it all take place, get a design briefing and presentation from DJModels plus get a light lunch and hot drink on the train itself to get a feel for this iconic train. Tilt may also be operational on the day for you to experience.

We hope that this is the first of a NEW ‘West Coast’ range in N gauge and hope to produce the following models in the coming years as part of the range…..Classes 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85, plus EMU classes 303, 304 and 312.

If there is enough demand they will consider running a crowdfunder for the model in OO gauge.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, please understand that this is a DJM crowdfunder, DJM is the designer, manufacturer and supplier for the project, and DToS are handling the orders as their ordering system is far more efficient than DJM's one is currently.

DToS are doing lots behind the scenes, however, to help the model come to fruition.

I have ample capacity to do another 6-8 projects at this time without breaking into anything like a hot sweat, and when anyone asks if i want to be asociated with anything so iconic and desired as the Ultimate UK tilting train, and the zenith, quite possibly, of UK design and build trains, then of course i'm going to say yes.

It's also worth noting that as i have ample capacity it means i can easily take on more work at any time, while still working on existing crowdfunders and DJM own projects. As for the latter, nothing has changed although i have after showing a 3D sample for the 92 in all its true detail glory, extended the deadline for sign ups for both gauges, and i will bring this part of the project to a close in the first week of February for both gauges, and start tooling.

I have consciously decided not to go to tooling now as it would mean asking for the main deposit now right before Christmas and in the first month of 2018 which sometimes a hard month due to its length between paydays, so please be aware that i shall be asking for these fund it Feb.

this will also give crowdfunders the chance to sign up for the Stobart livery 92 as i now have that licence too. (details this week on how and where to order).

I'll finish with a couple of pictures that show the magnificent beast itself plus the Jpeg of the handbills given out at Warley 2017

Please note this is a DJM crowdfunding project and DJM will be invoicing, designing, and finally supplying the finished model and is therefore totally responsible for your investment.

Also: Please Note: Any 'pure' crowdfunding venture is an investment with no guarantee of return, and your invested capital (deposit payments) are at risk. Please consider carefully whether you wish to partake in this venture before ordering.
