LBNGR is proud to present its showcase Autumn Gala on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September, with no fewer than six full round trip steam-hauled passenger services, four freight runs, and two very special excursions of the "Leedon Flyer", a short dash to Leedon Loop and back behind 1877 De Winton-built vertical boiler locomotive 'Chaloner', fresh from its overhaul.*

Tickets are available online for single trips, but we're very pleased to be able to offer rover tickets, available for purchase at the Booking Office on the day. Tickets for the two "Leedon Flyer" runs, at 12:25 and 16:33, can also be bought at the Booking Office, for a supplement of £6.00 for single ticket holders or £1.50 for rover ticket holders. These seats are extremely limited (only 18 on each train), so it's first come, first served!

Rover ticket holders have free roam of the line all day long and can ride on as many services as you like. Those holding single tickets for specific trains take priority for seats, so please allow the Guard to board those passengers first.

Rover tickets are priced as follows: Adults £24.50; Senior £22.50; Children £17.50.

A souvenir timetable will be available to pick up from the Booking Office at no charge, but there is a preview in the comments, so you can plan your day accordingly.

	* As always, all locomotives are subject to volunteer and mechanical availability. We reserve the right to amend, substitute or cancel services without prior notice.
We are holding a Diesel Gala - but PeterPan will also be in action.

Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway has a large collection of internal combustion powered locos as well as one battery loco. We usually aim to just run steam trains on our operating days - the air-brake fitted diesels are usually on standby in case of a kettle failing.

Link to the website page below - more details when published - the plan is to form three passenger sets from the usual two so an intensive service. More details when they become available.

The dates for the 2024 Leighton Buzzard Galas have been set.

Last year’s gala was great fun to operate but we did clash with other events that took away punters and people to run the trains.

Monday 27th May - Diesel Gala -Sunday 26th will be a ‘normal’ operating day.

Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September - Steam Gala - new weekend to avoid other local events.

More details will follow - there is a possibility of running 4 train timetables for both galas….

I've been wondering about making a visit to the North of England next year, and one of the destinations on my list would be the Kirklees Light Railway, in particular because I'd love to be reacquainted with Katie and Sian which I remember fondly from childhood visits to the Fairbourne.

However the railway is promoted as part of "Whistlestop Valley", a family amusement park, and it doesn't seem possible to buy tickets for the railway alone: you have to buy a "Big Adventure Ticket". Perhaps it's an unfounded anxiety, but would it be regarded as at all suspicious for a single male in his sixties to be seeking entry to a facility primarily aimed at young children? Or are they well used to adult enthusiasts?

There are several videos on Youtube of Enthusiasts' Days at Statfold in 2023, but I don't see any scheduled on their Events page for 2024. Have Enthusiaits' Days been discontinued (they must be very expensive to run with all those locos in staem), or are they announced at a later date, or only to those "in the know"?
