Little Loco Company dissolved.

A comment on a different part of the forum made me think about the LLC. I then decided to look the company up and found that it was dissolved, by compulsory strike off, at the end of March 2021. What this means for those of us who lost money I don't know other than the chance of us ever getting anything (even pennies back) appears even more removed.

Little locomotive company O gauge Class 15 help needed

My O Gauge Class 15 is in need of a crew.....anybody know how to remove the cab from the body? Does it involve breaking glued joints or is it a matter of just removing screws(which I can see no sign off)

Steve has been in touch with me with an update.

Firstly, he'd like to thank those who have been concerned for his health. The good news is that a house move has put him much closer to his treatment centre and the prognosis is good for the future. At the moment, the treatment is arduous and makes him extremely lethargic and non-communicative.

Little Loco Company has several interested parties interested in the business and Steve is hopeful that the negotiations will bring about a result that will assume all the obligations to customers. Due to his heath, these negotiations are moving slowly and there will be an update as soon as there is progress to report.

Long term, his efforts are on recovering his health and then some railway-related ideas for Kitpart, but ones that are a good deal less stressful!

We are very proud to introduce one of the most advanced ready-to-run models ever designed. From the outset we wanted this model to be as accurate as possible, but the open bogies presented an engineering problem to solve. We couldn't use the typical compound gear train within the bogies as this would have been quite obvious, so we set about designing an inboard reverted reduction gearbox fixed directly to the custom-spec motor. The output of the gearbox then drops to a transfer box to transmit power via accurate driveshafts to the bogies, and then to transverse gears to each axle, exactly like the prototype. The motor pinion and all bogie gears are metal, where most of the torque is, so no split gears.

This allowed us to really go to town on the bogies. Barring pick-ups, these are exact replicas of the real thing – every pipe, bolt and spring. This is possibly the only RTR model that looks just as good upside down as it does on the track, and with extendible metal driveshafts it should stay there too. The wheels are solid steel using the latest metal injection moulding technology, so they are as accurate on the inside face as they are on the outside.

Inside we have an all-new future-proof electronics suite. This is all plug-and-play, so should any part fail you simply unplug it and plug in a replacement. No soldering, no expensive repair shops, anyone can do it. Fitted to every model is a tuned HiFi-quality speaker pushing close to 100Hz of pure bass. The voice coil and suspension ring have been tuned just for us. Just as we fit speakers as standard to all our models, we are now fitting attachments for smoke units too. Fixed internally to the exhaust port is ducting to connect directly to a fan-assisted smoke unit, along with all the control and power connections. We are now working with a manufacturer to produce our own specified unit, which will be available by the time the models are released. Our sound decoders will come pre-configured and timed, so you just plug in and go. And talking of decoders, amazingly this model is still all controlled by a standard PluX22 decoder. Nothing else comes close.

We are starting with the production versions (6306 onwards), with the Pilot Scheme locos coming soon after. At least five different liveries will be available and five different nose designs, plus two gauges – both O gauge and Scale 7 models are available to order with no premium. The model is now in the factory and deliveries will start before the end of the year. Each model comes with an intelligent decoder, either sound or non-sound, plus a capacitor bank to ensure non-stop running. Plus of course, we will be making a substantial donation to Project 22 Society who have helped, among others, with this challenging but rewarding project.

As soon as the website is completed before the end of the month we will reveal the incredible prices and reservations will be open.

Dear all.

Over the past few months I have been unable to progress any Little Loco Company projects due to personal reasons. I have now come to the realisation that I can no longer continue to operate LLC and I'm inviting offers among the model railway community for the sale of the business in whole or part. Please feel free to share this statement.

Offered for sale is a complete tooling set (injection moulding and die-cast) for the Ruston 48DS in two styles ready for production, costing over £140,000 in total for machining, EDM on all parts, and developmental testing. In addition, the Class 22 is fully developed and ready for tooling, incorporating many novel features and systems that have been designed to be marketed separately and feature in future models. Tooling costs can be considerably reduced by removing this system-level approach.

I am open to offers for the business as a whole or just the rights and tooling for the Ruston, along with the Class 22 development work. Serious offers or request for further information to sales@littleloco.co.uk – I am happy to act as a free consultant to ensure the sale and project continues as smoothly as possible.

Little Loco Company general news and updates

I know not all of you frequent Facebook, but for those that do we have started a new Facebook 'page'. This is different to a group in that you do not have to be a member of the group to view it, or even a member of Facebook, I believe. We will be slowly migrating out of the group structure and will post exclusively on the 'page' from now on. You can expect to find exclusive updates on our various projects and maybe one or two offers now and again. Of course, RMWeb is still included in any newsworthy update, so please don't feel like you have to follow FB to be kept up to date.

We also have a YouTube channel which we'll update with exclusive tidbits as often as we can. For example, the Ruston is out on endurance trials today, so hopefully we'll have some footage of that to show later. The links to both are below.

Little Loco Company's innovation department has been working overtime to engineer a model to be a close to prototype as possible. The first problem to overcome was to provide enough weight to provide enough traction to pull more than just itself. Along with a substantial die-cast chassis, the model features special high-density polymers and all-steel engineered wheels.

Under the bonnet is a custom-designed high-torque motor and geartrain to a central shaft, from which drive is provided to both axles – just like the real one. Instead of a chain we are using a specially-designed toothed belt designed to look like the prototype chain. Also under there is a unique PCB with standard PLuX decoder (sound or non-sound) and pre-wired capacitors that can supply well over 10 seconds of uninterrupted power, which is essential for a short wheelbase model. Of course, as the trademark of every Little Loco model, we include a high quality speaker pre-fitted and pre-wired as standard.

No detail has been left out, including inside the fully fitted cab. We've even hidden the micro-wiring for the operable shunting lights inside the cab walls. A small, but dedicated team has been working for months to ensure we create a model as close to perfect as possible – all designed, engineered and produced right here in the UK (except for the motor).

Tooling starts in January and we expect a release date in May/June. Price ranges start from £200-225 for the DCC/DC non-sound models and approx £265-285 for the DCC sound models.

Each will come fully decorated in standard Ruston factory paint schemes appropriate for the cab style chosen, with full printed lining. I'll start a news section on the website with regular updates, but I'll echo the essentials right here too. Once the Class 15 has been released and at some point after the Bristol show I'll open a reservation section on the website, where you can also specify Finescale O or Scale 7 wheel sets.

Little Loco Company, in association with the Class 15 Preservation Society, proudly announces its first model – a 7mm scale 0 gauge ready-to-run model of the British Thompson Houston Type 1, commonly known as the Class 15.

From the outset we wanted to produce a high quality, innovative and accurate model that not only offered value for money, but gave something back to our railway heritage. We teamed up early in the process with the enthusiastic C15PS, who have supported and technically assisted us to ensure our model is as accurate as possible. In return for their help we will donate over £10,000 toward the restoration of D8233 – the only remaining Class 15.

We believe our model will be the most technically advanced 0 gauge RTR yet produced. With a fully integrated Plux22 DCC socket (a first for 0 gauge) and independently controlled train classification lighting, PLUS working headcode discs (a first in any scale) you can choose whatever train classification you like - and change it again in a minute.

Our model includes a built-in audio quality twin-speaker sound system. The bass reflex cabinet has been professionally designed with two 34mm speakers offering excellent bass response. This has been pre-wired to the Plux22 socket, avoiding both soldering and finding the space to cram in an after-market speaker.

To create the space for this innovative sound system a unique low-slung die-cast metal chassis has been designed. This not only lowers the centre of gravity, making a more convincing and stable ride, but also encloses the flywheel-equipped high torque motor and cardan shafts. These in turn drive the durable gear trains in each bogie, with pick-ups on every wheel.

A fully detailed cab interior, sprung metal buffers and couplings are, of course, included. All five running liveries are being produced, along with two Limited Editions; the Liverpool Street pilot and D8233 – the proceeds of which go directly to the C15PS. Each standard model will include alignment assisted numbering and detailing transfers with a choice of shed plates, making your loco unique to you. The price for the standard models is only £375, or £395 for the fully decorated Limited Editions.

We are currently talking to retailers, and approved stockists will be listed on our website. You can also purchase directly from us with PayPal or secure online card payments. Delivery is expected in May, and you can reserve yours from this weekend on our website.

Just read on bookface that the Little Loco Class 50 is now on hold due to Heljan doing the same Loco ,says it might be revisited if enough interest shown in future....wise decision I think.

Hello, welcome to the Little Loco Company's corner of RM Web.

The Little Loco Company will shortly release two 7mm scale loco kits; the BR Class 03 & Class 04 shunter locos, formerly available from Right Price Railway Company.

Both are etched in quality nickel-silver with supplied lost-wax brass and white metal fittings. Currently under development and available soon are specially commissioned prototypically accurate wheels for both kits from Slaters Plastikard. In addition, a motor/gearbox package is currently being sourced and can be supplied with your kit.

They build into reasonable models with plenty of scope for additional detailing and customisation (a few examples in this thread) but are perfectly acceptable as supplied. A previous Gauge 0 Guild review of the 'as-built' RPRC kit by Ken Wilkes is available here.

Pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed, but both kits will be in the 'budget' category, with incentives to purchase the wheels and motorising packages with your kit.
