	Hello All
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have added to my website both versions of the Class 442 cabs in the <a href="https://phd-design-etchings.co.uk/products/ols/categories/3d-printed-parts" rel="external nofollow">3D Printed Parts Section</a>
</p>

<p>
	I have designed the cab ends to fit the Hornby Mk3 Carriage there is a separate Valance to ease fitting when modelling multi unit working.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm only selling the 3D printing files (UN-suported) and not the printed parts (<strong>I'm am not offering a printing service</strong>) the printing of the files will be the customers responsibility.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The printing files are in 4mm and can be scaled up to 7mm or down to 2mm.
</p>

<p>
	Though I cannot guarantee the print quality when the scale is reduced to 2mm.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If you have any questions please direct them through my website?

<p>Happy New Year all.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Over the Christmas period i finished something I have been working for a while.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I have designed it to fit on the Hornby class 08 frame there is a mode for the Hornby frame which will involve removing the cast wings either side of the 8 pin socket.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2018/post-6665-0-05368600-1515349396.jpg" data-fileid="947851" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2018/post-6665-0-05368600-1515349396_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="947851" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-6665-0-05368600-1515349396_thumb.jpg"></a> <a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2018/post-6665-0-54140500-1515349402.jpg" data-fileid="947856" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2018/post-6665-0-54140500-1515349402_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="947856" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-6665-0-54140500-1515349402_thumb.jpg"></a></p>

<p>
	Hi all,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Went looking for long range fuel tanks for a class 20 this morning on the PH Designs website.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It appears the website has been hacked as I was greeted with lots of options to purchase Viagra and other drugs.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Is PH Designs still in business and if someone knows the owner, can you let them know please as I have no details to contact them.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Many thanks
</p>

<p>
	Dan

<p>I bought the East Midlands train Livery Dapol Class 153 soon after it had come out.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Not too long after this I removed the bogie's to clean the wheels.</p>
<p>They did come out fairly easily at first but after a few cleans the arms that hold them into the chassis broke off.</p>
<p>I asked Dapol for spares and other service centers but nothing!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In the end I managed to buy another Class 153 but again the same thing happened.</p>
<p>It was becoming a joke so I asked Pete and sent him the offending parts:-</p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2014/post-6745-0-17748100-1390154500.jpg" data-fileid="371494" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2014/post-6745-0-17748100-1390154500_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="371494" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-6745-0-17748100-1390154500_thumb.jpg"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2014/post-6745-0-54208700-1390154514.jpg" data-fileid="371495" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_01_2014/post-6745-0-54208700-1390154514_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="371495" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-6745-0-54208700-1390154514_thumb.jpg"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Hopefully you can just about see the new one, it's the only one with BOTH towers on although the photo is too dark and the parts are very small!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Pete did the drawings and had them 3D printed, and they work perfectly!</p>
<p>Yes they are not smooth like the originals but it doesn't matter as they can't be seen, they fit into the bogie perfect and the gears fit nicely into the holes, I now have two working Class 153's!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Thought I'd post this so if anybody else has this problem, Pete's the man that can!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Cheers</p>

<p>im sure pete wont mind me starting a thread about his sleeper spacing tool.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>its basically an etch you fold up and either solder or glue together to allow you to be able to correctly space the sleepers</p>
<p> </p>
<p>this is the track as bought, code 75 steel sleeper peco streamline </p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/ad8f2fcf.jpg" alt="ad8f2fcf.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p> and this is the assembled tool</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/fca1142f.jpg" alt="fca1142f.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p>the first thing to do is to cut the plastic from between the sleepers</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/0b1dab8f.jpg" alt="0b1dab8f.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/704fc724.jpg" alt="704fc724.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p>then you place the tool onto the sleepers, 10 at a time, and space them out in the grooves, i then added a drop of glue to each sleeper into the hole on the bottom which secures them nicely</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/330f99ab.jpg" alt="330f99ab.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p>once the sleepers are secured its just a case of moving on to the next 10 sleepers and securing them, the metre length of flexi track took me about an hour to do, one down 9 to go!!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>the result of spacing the sleepers out is 12 sleepers, and plastic joints between them, are removed from the length of track</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/d207416e.jpg" alt="d207416e.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p>you can see the difference between the stock and modified track in the following pictures, although subtle i think it does make enough of a difference to warrent the short time it takes to do the job, the removal of the plastic between the sleepers make a world of difference</p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/4981a82b.jpg" alt="4981a82b.jpg" /> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/33b8b7a5.jpg" alt="33b8b7a5.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/46fa4213.jpg" alt="46fa4213.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/s-type-driver/99f35fcc.jpg" alt="99f35fcc.jpg" /></p>
<p> </p>
<p>in all a great simple piece of kit, i would recommend one if your doing like i am and starting a layout from scratch and are using off the shelf items rather than building your own track</p>
<p> </p>
<p>im sure pete can elaborate on the product further.......</p>

<p>Here is how I started tackling the kit.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-69272500-1400165848.jpg" data-fileid="420045" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-69272500-1400165848.jpg" data-fileid="420045" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-8030-0-69272500-1400165848.jpg"></a></p>
<p>I started cutting a circle from a 1mm plastic card sheet. It is recommended to use a 2 mm thickness card but I did not have any and if you use this cutting tool, 1 mm is thick enough. This cutter is not very strong. Also the two gauges are inaccurate I had to adjust the radius using a calliper. But at the end I got a good cleaned circled plastic shape.</p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-33617200-1400165551.jpg" data-fileid="420040" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-33617200-1400165551.jpg" data-fileid="420040" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-8030-0-33617200-1400165551.jpg"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p>On the left: 4 triangular pieces and On the right 4 quarter circles pieces. </p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-69723300-1400165720.jpg" data-fileid="420042" rel=""><img src="https://media-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_05_2014/post-8030-0-69723300-1400165720.jpg" data-fileid="420042" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-8030-0-69723300-1400165720.jpg"></a></p>

<p>The rail profile is made by successive folds.</p>

<p> </p>
<p>I had to add an edge of 1mm plasticard (2mm = height of a Peco sleeper).</p>
<p> </p>

<p> </p>
<p>The circle, its frame and the rail are securely positioned with masking tape. Once the pieces were in place they were glued on the circle using Evo stick solvent free. The strip of plasticard  (with the arrow) is my "in house" track gauge.</p>

<p>
	As nobody has put anything about this kit on here I thought I'll do the honours.
</p>

<p>
	This is the first kit in 20 yrs that I've had to solder and even had to get a new soldering iron as I couldn't find the old one.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Straight forward etch and even with my oversize fingers was found to be easy once you know what your doing, and in what order. As always the first one is part of the learning curve so the next three should be a breeze.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	And thanks to Pete for the kits ain these hard times.
