Professionals that can modify couplings?

Hi all. I am looking at using 3 of the Hornby Brighton Belle coaches for my recreated VSOE and I was wondering if there is anyone that is able to convert these to the standard coupling and at the same time modify the lights to the usual style of pickup as seen on the other Pullman stock from Hornby. This is far beyond my skill set and would be greatly appreciative of anyone can point me in the direction of someone that can help.

Kind regards, Ryan

Thanks very much. I have just had a look and it is actually going to be a lot easier than I originally thought to modify the actual couplings themselves. The only issue is going to be the cables that power the lights. Only the power car has pickups fitted and passes the power through the couplings to the other coaches as per the VEP.

If you intend running the three cars grouped together in your VSOE set, then retain the supplied conducting coupler within the group, and strip off the coupler mounts at the outside ends. Then fit a pair of bogies with pick up to the outside ends of the set and wire in, with tension locks mounted on these bogies. (The tension lock doesn't work optimally with close coupling mechs such as on these models, better to bogie mount if you are determined to use this coupler. I'd like to suggest body mounted Kadees for all your Pullmans - the right coupler form in the right place - but probably a step too far.)

For a RTR bogie with efficient pick up I'd suggest the Bachmann commonwealths off their Met-Camm Pullmans. Wrong bogie type but the right w/b (Hornby's Pullman bogies are longer w/b) superb pick up from the axle pin points for very low drag. (It may be possible to modify the Hornby bogies and then substitute the Bachmann wheels and pick up parts for correct appearance.) A plasticard mount cemented to the bogie will enable the tension lock to be fitted.
