bigal10
I have today purchased a Heljan Class 23 with a view to putting sound in it. I have asked elsewhere, on this site, and privately, and the only offerings at present are on LS4, so I'm almost certainly going for the Howes version. Having managed to remove the body, without too much fuss, in spite of all the warnings by Bromsgrove et al., - can only assume that the latest batch as purchased from Hattons, have been remodelled slightly, and allow easier removal, and no damage to all the "dangly bits". That said, I did manage to see all 4 windscreen wipers fall off, and cannot find hide nor hair of number 4! My question here is, what do the great and good of RM world think about speakers in this model? There is prescious little space above the PCB, and it gets taken up by the decoder anyway. The cab details are glued (?) to the roof, and seem to sit directly on top of the gearbox towers at each end. So, my thoughts are to use a pair of sugar-cubes, possibly the larger Zimo ones, placed in the tunnels below the PCB, alongside the cardan shafts. I've done this on another Heljan, and it works quite well, thanks to gorilla snot or blu-tack. Any other alternatives? Regards, Alan.
McGomez
CoastalDCC do a version too. From their website it looks as though you can get it on Loksound or Zimo. http://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/sound.php?id=1948 They recommend a pair of HiBass 0,78" speakers in the tanks. Here is a video I have no connection other than as an ocasional customer.
Guest 40-something
Try and get as big a bass reflex speaker in the tanks and make sure its well seated and sealed.
Baby Deltic
It sounds good, but the fact the preserved power unit hunts at idle is rather off-putting. It seems to be pretty much a feature of that particular engine.
bigal10
I finally did plump for the YouChoos project, and it sounds pretty good!

JSpencer
On mine, I just blue tacked a 25mm speaker facing downwards in the roof. Sounds ok to me.
