RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 31, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 31, 2015 Last Tuesday I photographed 'Lyd' at Boston Lodge having been given permission (I would like to thank all of those members of staff on the F&WHR who arranged this). I've waited a long time to see 'Lyd' and being something of a fan of the Lynton & Barnstaple it was magical to be next to this loco. She was having a fire raised in the shed yard so I was really fortunate. I'm looking forwards to the release of the Heljan 009 model in due course. Cheers, Mark
Edge
She's a smashing loco - a year or two ago I was priveliged enough to be working the Warley show where Lyd was visiting. When I arrived in the morning the only things in the hall were Lyd and two locks at the far end of the hall. Could not resist having a sneaky climb onto the footplate... Pyewipe Jct
It's a lovely loco, although I don't really like the cab roof profile, if I'm honest (I realise the reason it's like that, obviously). It's definitely on the wrong railway, though...

Jub45565
Yeah I don't think the cab really suits her. In my opinion she should be scrapped to aid the rebuild of a more deserving 2-6-2 in time for its centenary. I should probably keep my opinions to myself though... ;-)
